
But I don't think it tells the whole story. For instance, while it does show music spending going down, it doesn't actually show the other side of the coin - the amount of money that music *earns*! Clearly physical sales are dropping, and on the face of it, downloads and mobile music spending aren't increasing enough to cover the deficit. However, that doesn't take into account the reduced manufacturing costs, pressing costs, distribution costs and so on, so presumably as more people buy music online or via their phone, less money will need to be spent on the aforementioned.
