SYNCROSOFT WARNING !!

Post by dawman »

For those of us who have to use these little dongles DO NOT UPGRADE TO 5.4.8.2.

It will not show your eLicenses causing great panic. Apps. will not run.

Luckily I upgraded only to my DAW via the USB Stick, and my internet PC still had the version that works w/ all of my apps.........Whew.

I was out of my mind but realised that I had to run the unwise ( uninstall ) program, and reinstall the old version. I got lucky and recognized the size in MB's, which relates to the version previously used.

A developer had the link for newer version at his site, and I thought since I use his stuff it would be wise.

Like a great developer should do, he called me back via phone very quickly, and we walked through the process for over an hour before realizing the internet DAW had the older / stable version. He might remove the link now too.

This is scary to think I could not do a gig because of these intertwined eLicense dependent applications. I will never upgrade to a newer version of this licensing crap unless it is bundled with a new instrument that requires it.

I miss the old Scope / Gigasampler days where my HDD's and CPU ran giga, and Scope DSP's ran the rest. No Worries there.

Now I sweat everytime I have to use Cubase 4.1, Gigstudio 4, Muse, GVI, American Zither, Gigaviolin, Pedal Steel, etc.

What a waste of precious time.

Be Very Careful My Brotha's.

I had the same problem. The licenses were not visible on the USB dongle. I thought they disappeared but I stuck the dongle in the other computer and I could see everything was there. Then I just installed an older version of syncrosoft and it was back to normal. I contacted Vienna Symphony Library support and he said it was weird and he has never heard of this problem. Funny but support at every company *always* says that. Paul at Creamware told me the same thing about the Creamware S/PDIF not working. He never heard of my problem.

Once you install your license it stays on the dongle unless you delete it or move it to another dongle. If the Syncrosoft software is missing or in this case has a bug, it will not be visible on the dongle, but it is still there. The Software only changes your computer, it does not alter the dongle.

I love the dongle because I can use my software on any of my computers. Recently I wanted to move some of my SC software to another card. That is just simply out of the question. You have to pay, wait, rely on Ralf, he makes mistakes, you get angry and then if you want to move it back... well you get the picture. Screw that! Let me do what I want with the f*cking software I paid a lot of money for!

at my work we use v-ray and ALL of the workstations and rendering nodes use a license setver which uses a wibu key usb stick.

anyways we had to upgrade it to work with the new v-ray and guess what. kaput even thoguh it worked in testing on a local machine. we could not produce any work untill they found a fix for us. what a nightmare!
