My mp3's sound like crap, but try and imagine the sound in VDAT prior to the butchering ( conversion ) process.
I just did a different way of making an mp3, that seems to sound a little better.
Tell me if my hears are working or not.
The VDAT 2 Reaper is bypassing the mixer, hence the crappy fade, but it sure seemed to sound a little cleaner than the first take.
a\1st take was mixer to VDAT 1 & 2, VDAT 1 & 2 outputs back to mixer, then to Reaper.
That both sound like dog shit 2 me compared to VDAT.
I am envious of the quality of Noémie's voice, and that piano. I am not deaf as I can detect the differnce in quality, I just don't know how to record vurtually, and need lot's more practice.
So I will continue embarassing myself until I get it right.

Yes, this sounds beautiful. The first one seems to sound better. Please continue to embarass yourself, it is a treat
The piano on the Puccini track was an overcompressed, eqed to death mp3 file downloaded from the net that was dropped into nuendo.. Jimmy, is this a real piano you miced up or is it midi?

No Brotha' Man Gekko,
It's another 79 USD library I use in Gigastudio 4.
I don't go for the hype of the 32 velocity layered nonsense that some guys are getting suckered into buying. While they might sound nice the idea that there is a controller that can actually utilize and play these velocities is Bull puckey IMO.
But it's a cheapy alright, from a Swedish developer who makes several different Pianos. I will getting a really expensive nice one sometime, but I prefer expensive nice Scope stuff, and cheap Pianos.
Thanks.

Jimmy, just stick 10 microphones in your analog piano and go from there? I've seen one somewhere in your photos. experiment with it. piano banks are not up to the task yet. just saying that your chops deserve better

Re: Wax-S Wah-Wah Pour Le Piano
Is there a way to modulate the speed of the LFO? Would be fun to hear the wah effect subtly get slower and faster, no?
I have a couple of tracks in the works, Jimmy. One of them has your name attached to a solo spot....

I'm not worthy.
As soon as the DAW's back up running w/ the new CPU tomorrow I will post a new Grand Piano w/ Flexor III's Sea Synth MIDI'd up. It's too lush to describe, and has massive polyphony thanks to a member here who showed me a trick or two recently.

yes, it's unfair to compare real sounds with sampled sounds. it wouldn't take that many mics either....
Re: Wax-S Wah-Wah Pour Le Piano
The reason I want to use lots of mics is for putting together a Foley collection for future production. Xite will surely pay for itself this Fall, but I am going to limit playing gigs eventually and get into productions for film and personal use.
I have only just started to record. I really want to use stereo mics and try some M/S/ stuff too. An old buddy of mine will rent me whatever he has for moths for next to nothing. I believe he has one of the largest Vintage Guitar and mic pre collections known. He locks them in a vault @ Bizzarre Guitar in Sparks, Nevada. An old bank that he bought years ago.
The fact the Gordon Gekko's singer had to record over a pre recorded Piano to make her demo for the audition is another example of her true talent. Pianists are suppose to follow the vocalist, not the other way around. An amazing example of listening while performing. That's not an easy task for any performer.............Kudos to her.

Re: Wax-S Wah-Wah Pour Le Piano
Jimmy - about the sound quaility. I agree, that the Reaper one sounds better. Some of the better, however comes from being plain louder. I examined two of the early peaks, and they where 4.8 and 5 dB louder. That file does however seam to have a smoother more pleasant sound, and a better control of the midle region, where the 'solo' file can feel a bit crowded.

we comped about 10 tracks to get there, mainly because she was recording over something as you say, not the other way around. The fact the Gordon Gekko's singer had to record over a pre recorded Piano to make her demo for the audition is another example of her true talent. recording both at the same time is another ball game that should yield better results
thank you for her XITE-1/4LIVE, she'll be delighted
