Appassionata Strings / Chris Hein Guitars

Post by dawman »

VSL Apassionatto Strings, and Chris Hein Guitars were installed today.

These are incredible instruments.

Anyone useing these in a Scope Project via VST host?

The strings are so well recorded they need zero effect or treatment.

Naturally I wanted to hear the Guitars w/ the PCM91. Blew me away.

I was doing Chris Isaac's electric sound instantly, then distorted leads and pickin's. But the acoustic guitars are stunning, and it's hard to stop playing.

I love doing old Mahavishnu, Kansas, ELP, and Jimmy Page stuff as well as my own.

This year, I am going to be covering lots of new ground, and these romplers will definately be in the mix. My old TX816 was run through Scope and sounded really nice, but I have added some Scope FX to FM8 and must admit that the TX816 will be going to ebay soon.

I already started recording in my 50 USD VST / audio / MIDI app., Reaper.

Cubase 4.1 is history, Steinberg can do a lipstand. Until then I will keep using this little fast, and simple app. Reaper.

I will be buying an audio/ video app soon, maybe this new company based in Vegas will work, I am shopping for a video camera, and app to do my own productions. These classes in broadcasting and video are so much fun. I think I am growing in a new direction.

Cubase is too overbloated, and too many problems w/ Scope cards, especially 4.1. It won't even work from what I have read in the threads.

I learning how to deaden a room for use with my mic pre, mics, and rotary cabinet, then will make adjustments for vocals.

I think I can get some realistic recordings right off the bat with these instruments. And both sound incredible through the rotary cabinet.

Cheap, efficient, and customer support is fast.

Updated monthly.

Wait shouldn't I be getting jerked around like evryone else w/ the big apps w/ no customer support?

Bull Puckey........I hope all of these other overbloated jerk offs learn a lesson from this. They will never see another red cent of mine again.

Besides, I don't even hardly ever quantize, or need a fake strum, arpeggiation, etc. I only need to record then add the automations and effects during mixdown. Keep it simple and fast.

Good move. i've come to loathe Steiny with each passing 'upgrade'.

The support at VSL (Paul) told basically me I have to stop emailing him. I'm really disappointed with the support I got. There is no "Help" tab in the apps and I don't find the GUI to be very intuitive, although I know it well enough now.

Both the support and my sales rep told me I should watch the tutorials but they didn't tell me that a lot of the tutorial information does not apply to the version I have, thus wasting a lot of my time and when I pointed it out to him, he acts like I'm just a stupid customer. That is wrong.

I like telephone support from people who speak fluent English not email support from people who speak poor English.

That sucks, I hope I don't ever need to chat to them.

I had a similar experience w/ Chicken Systems Translator's customer service guy ( a contradiction in terms ). I was new with conversions, and he treated me like a child, after being really helpful prior to the purchasing.

I saw him at NAMM and told him why I bad rapped his ass all over the forums. He asked me to be reasonable,..........I reminded him that I was past that point.

Go to Northern Sounds and bad rapp his ass, as Garritan would chime in with you, and VSL guys would be more helpful than that asshole anyway. He probably works there just to get his software for cheap.

You will get their attention quickly as their days of being the only game in town is just about over.

Wavelore will be doing a string library for GVI / Gigastudio this year, and I can guarentee it will be on parr if not better than VSL. But I am awaiting his incredible Pedal Steel Guitar next week.

You will love Belbin ( Mark ) the developer. He's a very talented guy. Very humble also as his prices demonstrate.

I have the AZither, and it definately is a cut above the rest. Fuckin' Cannucks make the best shit these days.

I will pat myself on the back when this instrument is released. I was speaking w/ him a couple years ago and pretty much talked him into becoming a developer. I also said to tackle a diificult instrument that every other developer runs from and you will enter the scene as a King. He took my advice as I was trying to use several tracks, a ribbon, etc. But copuld never get the Pedal Steel parts to sound authentic.

We won't be worrying about that sound anymore, trust me whem I say, it is a must have, as this instrument could breathe new life into synth productions also. I saw a guy play one through a Leslie 147 years ago w/ Poco ( the Band ) and was in love w/ them ever since. But I do not wish to play that Hilbilly / JoeBob stuff, but different stuff. I seem to have a head start on that too.

American Zither Is Awesome, you'll love it. ( 60 bucks?....WTF ? )
