Scope / VSTi Question

Post by dawman »

I decided to buy this....http://www.softube.se/acoustic_feedback.asp

I have got some good results having Gigastudi as the VST host, but I want to try this on Six String.

I am pretty green with all of this VST stuff still, but have made progress using Bidule, I will stay with that app for the gigs.

How could I route this to use w/ Six String. I have the option of using Gigastudio, or the ASIO 2 24bit Source Module under Bidule.

Thanks.

BTW, this thing sounds really good. I might even let the SE-1X take a turn using it, once the routings are figured out.

asio dest to bidule, through plugin, out bidule via asio into scope.....

this will induce double your ULLI's setting in latency.

Thank God feedback w/ some latency will work out.

Thanks Brotha' Man. I'll let you know how it works out.

All of my K2 stuff has been transferred over to the P35 and are working O.K.

Funny thing though, the easy little MTron VSTi wants to load in the Cakewalk folder, so I send it to the Steinberg/Cubase 4/ VSTi/ synths floder where all of the other dll. files are located, and I can't get it to work.

Are you available via phone tomorrow afternoon, say 4:00PM - 7:00PM?

M-Tron should be the easy bit. Which version of the software are you using and do you have any additional tape banks? Make sure the samples are going to the correct folder too - not just the .dll.

if it works in the cakewalk folder, why not just leave it there?

It doesn't work in either folder, and the dll's aren't duplicated.

I do have the additional tape banks too. But I treat VSTi's like Giga. App goes to the os + apps drive, and the content goes to separate drives.

I split up all brass, and strings in an unorthodox way. For example, I will be stacking VSTi's on MIDI channels in Gigastudio 4 just like a drum set would be stacked in GS3.

I have learned that streaming audio apps work better for me when I spread the brass samples across 3 drives, and the strings across 3 drives, as these performances, usually 3 or 4 libraries each, are all part of a giant brass or string ensemble. So theoretically I stream from 3 HDD's simultaneously then allowing higher polyphony, and allowing the 10k rpm drives to achieve the maximum amount of articulations. This should also allow me to continue perfroming during a hard drive failure also, as I would only lose certain articulations instead of the whole shebang. That hasn't happened yet, but I would notice the dropout of a certain articulation, and could adjust my triggering of keyswitches to say have a section sustain, instead of a shake. This of course would not be the choice for the arrangement, but would get me through until I could hot swap a spare into the RAID Cage, which reminds me, I need to start making my copies of all 3 drives once my content and apps are all loaded.

Re the Mtron:
There is something in the back of my mind that tells me you have to have a short cut pointer to the tape banks if you move the dll file.
There may even be a prog to download to do this. Have a look for GForce website and see if they have any info there and if you have no luck I'll have a look at my setup on MOnday (too busy today)

Thanks Brosky.

I did 3 x 16 hour Scope days, and had to take a break for football games.

I think re naming a separate folder w/ M-Tron to replace the .cpt file oughtta work.

I shall see about 4 or 5 today.

Cheers,

Okay Jimmy, I've had a look at my set up for the Mtron

When I installed it, the banks were in a folder under Steinberg/Cubase/VST plugins.

At the time, I was backing up to zip disks and didn't want to back up the banks so I moved the folder out of "program files/Steinberg/.............etc.

My banks are now in a folder called:
C:/M-Tron Banks

My Mtron dll is in the C:/program files/Steinberg/VSTPlugins folder

I then right clicked "copy" on the M-Tron Banks folder and pasted this as a shortcut into the same folder as the dll file.

This appears in windows explorer as a folder icon with a shortcut.

If you right click on this and look at the properties you will see that it points to the Mtron banks.

Hope that helps

GMedia's MTron works fine in Cubase 4.0, but doesn't work in Bidule.

It appears that the deadly duplicate ID is the problem again.

I have emailed GMedia, and am awaiting their fix.

Let's see if they are as fast as Tascam is when problems need to be resolved.

Nope, GMedia aren't very fast at all.
I had a problem and gave up with them, but I finally found the answer out for myself.
Good luck and glad that you've got part of the solution worked out.
