It is about Scope installer/uninstaller. I can reproduce it on three different computers so it is obviously a bug. I can reproduce it with version 3 all the way to version 4.5.
Example. I do work with graphic and music. So i have two copy of winxp. i have two separate partitions for two separate XP installations. C: is DAW XP installation and D: is graphic and mutimedia installation (there is more letters but this is not important).
That way i am not messing with each other. Anyway...
clean XP install on C:, install SFP v4.5 in c:/sfp and everything fine....
clean XP install on D:, install SFP v4.5 in D:/sfp and everything fine....
boot your XP on D: Try to uninstall Scope software (there plenty of need for this ie. since D: is not my main DAW OS i am doing some test here and there with various scope plugins. After some mess i want to reinstall everything scope related) and uninstall application will remove everything on D but it WILL REMOVE everything on C: also !!!
IMO this is bad and wrong. IMO if i logg to my XP installation on D: where i installed my SFP, i execute uninstaller from D: it should wipe everything from D ONLY!!!
Why messing with other letters?
One silly bug needs to be resolved in Scope 5
good finding - should be filed under Scope tips ...uninstalling when multiple Scope installations exist...
solution: rename the Scope folder you want to keep
what you consider a bug could as well be intended, as 'uninstall' is usually performed when a card is supposed to be removed from the PC - without a card the uninstaller doesn't run.
imho there isn't a big reason for uninstall - disable the driver and trash the Scope folder - a handful of registry entries remains, but how many orphaned entries does your registry have anyway ?
cheers, Tom

Yes renaming can be solution but i dont want to end with one txt filled with TipsAndTricks on how to not screw my other installations. It is clear that if i am on d, everything is on d everything should be uninstalled from D only.
I am with you on scope but those little drop outs can and must be resolved (with ease).
And yes there is a lot of reason to uninstall. Take my example. I am new and i like to tweak everything and to dig most stupid things. I am at start with scope. So i installed everything important on C. On D i am doing stupid little test, demo etc...
When i am filled with ton of trash in my SFP i want to uninstall it. Again i dont want to do hacks. I can do it and i am not unfamiliar with that but i dont want that. I am already filled with a lot of things which are supposed to be "better do it before..."
Every single app i own in my computer history does behave like that. If it is installed in X:/rootinstall, uninstaller will remove it from x:/rootinstall only. It will not search on other drive letters blabla you get my point.
btw where can i put this so other can see. What scope tips? You mean in Tips And Tricks board? Can you do it?

yes I get your point, but the uninstaller doesn't scan drives... the rename trick would fail thenmpodrug wrote:...Every single app i own in my computer history does behave like that. obviously the original routine was intended to 'completely remove Scope from the computer', and acts for each Scope entry in the registry.
I'd rather appreciate that the uninstaller could do it's job without a card installed...
My experience regarding general 'uninstalling' seems to be quite contrary from yours.
A significant amount of applications does not uninstall properly.

make a post in the Tips section of this forum about your finding, and of course you may email SonicCore about the item as well.
I'm sure they appreciate such feedback - just don't expect them to start rebuilding the application immediately

cheers, Tom
I dont expect that of course. And i did not think that they scan my harddrives. This was because of my bad english. Most of time i dont know how to spell what i want
From what i understand about programming this is 10. to 20. min real job and does nothing to do with reprogramming application. I emailed them.
And yes i am aware about a lot of apps and their buggy in uninstalliners. Even leading (ie Adobe) apps does have errors in their uninstallers. I was pointing to "delete in other letters also" thing. I can not remember any application that will do that thing like scope uninstaller do.
Thanks for tips.
