Roland Chorus DC-50

Well after picking this on ebay, doing some heavy restoration i am proud to show new effect in my arsenal

These are very rare even on ebay and they have very nice and unique chorus. Hall is pretty weird and you can get some instant Alfred Hitchcock atmo from reverb

I can not use it right now (yes i have to get some nice A16 and i hope that santa is looking at me LOL). Roland Revo 30 (true analog chorus, amp at the same time and leslie simulator) is on the way here...hopefully it is in good shape

Awesome product.

Very thick too. That was out when the word " digital " was just starting to be put on effects for marketing purposes.

The Ensoniq DP4, and the Roland were top shelf units.

Love to see retro beauties.

i have one of these, got it for £60 off eBay, absolutely mint. In fact not sure if it had ever been used - it still had the protective plastic on the knobs. That hall effect is like some mad dub thing. i fancy messing with the pots on inside to see what other effects are obtainable. i'm not even sure what aspect of this thing is digital.

Same question here. I mean sound is almost everything but not digital to me. I opened it numerous times and i only see one or two IC-s (from my memory)I am really happy that i "get" this unit. I am haunting one Space Echo RE-201. It is in mint condition. Used by some old teacher in his home studio. Absolutely perfect looking and working...

Anyway this is great chorus....i am thinking to buy one Dynacord TAM 19 Analog Stereo-Chorus-Flanger of course because of sound. You can hear it on Kraftwerk - Tour de France a lot...

I love vintage effects. One purpose, no bloating allowed.

I was going to get a really nice Vermona, but accidentally got this little beauty on a second chance offer for 61.06 USD !! Just paid for it.

I use these effects on AUX's on a hardware mixer for live use.

With Mehdi's new freebie,..the MB4. I can now BUSS out signals to my hardware mixer for looped reverse, morphed effects via the Lexicon Vortex, dry siganls pre mixed in Scope, and hardware spring now.

Will our sickness ever end?

To show you the extent of my sickness, I dug through my memoirs trunk and fetched the add brochure that came with my Lexicon back in 1982.

I haven't seen this thing for a long time, but like all of my children, they are well tended to.

BTW, there is no cure for our sickness. Even in my death bed I will be looking at new effects and asking my great grand children to demo the unit.

i bought the DC-50 because it had that Space Echo look to it. i have an RE-501. i can say that the DC-50 is somewhat lighter

If you don't already have one then i can recommend the mxr phase100 which has a classic phase sound used by the likes of Gary Numan all over his Polymoog sounds. It's part of the classic sound on the intro to Cars.

Me too. That's why i asked Mehdi for a SlapBack Echo and he made one

. My favourite keep it simple devices that i wish i had are the Roland Dimension D - four presets, no controls, that's it. Sounds beaut. Also the dbx 163x Over Easy Compressor, with one slider labelled "More" and a friendly arrow showing you which way is more compression

Thanks for talking Mehdi into doing that.

The slapback is a great guitar effect.

It actually has the Lexicon Prime Time Sound that was used on the 3 guitar solos that fought each other in Lynard Skynards Freebird years back. If you had that sound w/ some spring to help carry it over, a Marshall stack became hypnotic.

Phasers on synths are awesome.

I take it you have the Black Box II stuff 'eh?

If so, go to the bb-Synth FX or AUX Delay. In the inserts place a stock chorus, or Hexichorus for a little motion in the ocean, then add the SSB Modulator or SSB Phaser, then down in the wet FX add Celmos or a stock phaser from CW.
Tweak the EQ to taste, then the tempo to 60 or so. The real action comes from the SSB Mod or SSB phaser as they can be used to work in opposite directions, or so it seems. It's especially good for FAT BASTARD leads. The first time GaryB heard it he immediately said what Phaser is that? Ankyuvarymush.

SpaceF has provided serious ammunition for synthesist's, no doubt. But now that he has a forum I was hoping to see all of the BBII guys post there. There has to be dozens of examples worth sharing. As his BBII is so deep, it requires several users sharing ideas IMHO.

His mono effects are incredible in the FB5. There are no equals anywhere. So many filters, so many combinations. The true SFP bottomless pit.

If you have time, join up and share. Hell the videos are incredible learning tools also. I am shocked that nobody takes advantage of such a vast knowledge base he's provided.

Excuse Me, I'm getting the shakes again, I must go buy a 1U effect on ebay !!
