All i can say is that 8020A works perfect with 7050B, and as the salesman said; the 7050 was as good - but i went for the new 7050B.
I use both 5.1 and 2.1 config (now its 4.1  while 1 is for repair).

The dip switches on both monitors and sub is made for easy setting (and it really was). I guess this is the part you don't get if you mix brands.
That said, any sub might do the job - but it might be more of a guess (maybe)

Thanks for the reply.

It is good that you own the set (8020 and 7050B) and that it works for you.
As for mixing brands, I also have second thoughts. Maybe it's better no to experiment with such matters. The 7050 is made to work with 8000 series.
So maybe this is the best option.

However, any other experience would be helpful.

I use a behringer dcx2496 to handle the different monitor setups. or just to adjust the sound to the location in the studio that I'm working at... that unit is the cheapest way to properly adjust your monitoring setups. 3 inputs, 6 outputs, very finetuneable delay per output, summing, crossover, whatever... if you spend a grand or more on the speakers, better spend a little more to straight out the setup altogether, too. It won't do magic as to compensate for nasty tinbox speakers, but it can help quite a lot if the speakers are nice to make the setup even better.
Using that, you can probably go for a different sub as well.
