R.I.P Luciano Pavarotti.

My parents are Italian so I grew up listening to opera since I can remember and even though I hated it as a child I really appreciate it now as it brings back lots of nostalgic memories. I was saddened by Pavarotti's death. Partly because my father died of pancreatic cancer a couple of years ago so it reminded me of that horrible period watching someone die and how hopeless you feel knowing there is nothing you can do. Even though my parents never rated Pavarotti highly compared to the singers they admired, I thought he was brilliant!!! Right now I am listening to him singing a fantastic rendition of a song called Caruso (another excellent opera singer) and it has brought tears to my eyes.

Dunno why I shared that with you. Just feeling kinda sad I guess. Anyway, rest in peace Luciano Pavarotti. I will always enjoy listening to your great voice!!

Rightly So,
My grandparents were from Aggregento, Sicily. Italian songs and Opera were what I heard one weekend, the next weekend I was listening to a Polka, or my favorite programatic composer Wagner, from my other Grandparents who were from Germany.

Pav will never really die, his perfection in live performance is recorded for history's sake.

I am from a big river town on the Mississippi where funerals are a sad / happy event, similar to New Orleans. Everyone cries and remembers the person, but afterwards celebrations are in order, as the soul has many emotions.

Thank you for sharing such deep feelings with all of us.
Pavarotti is one of my voice heroes of all time, his voice is amazing. What people tend to compare is the technicality of classical singers, but no one transmitted feelings like he did. All my respects to such a great musician, he gave us so much… His life has really worth living, and still… it is with us through his delightful singing voice through videos and recordings…

Anyone that can bring the beauty of opera to the masses is OK in my book. i hate those critics who denegrate his ability. Maybe he's not the most precise singer (i can't tell) but he had passion and more talent in his little finger than any critic. And he loved football.
