No sound!
Hello, i've recently bought an A16 device to connect it to my pulsar1 card.
I have installed the SCOPE 4.0 plataform, i have connected the adat cables and configured the two devices, but i have no sound!
I have checked all the cables and it seems to be Ok.
I've tested the devices with the scope plataform running and with it stopped.
I've tested it in ADAT slave mode and in MASTER mode, but i still have no sound.
The ASIO interface is recognized by cubase sx3 and by reason 3, but nothing.

Just an idea, don't take it as an answer to your question...
Do you have an A16 or A16 ultra?
I think an A16 can't handle 24bit audio on ADAT. (A16 ultra can do)
Maybe you can try to set the bits in cubase to 16 (xtc mode). or use ASIO 16 bit source/dest.
You can still work in cubase in any bit you want, but I/O wil be 16 bit.
Can somebody confirm or reject my post?

only adat source here, but just connect the dest where you want them.

just did the test.
I unplugged my motu 2408 which I use as DA convertor.
Plugged the optical cable i may old A16.And without any software changes: SOUND. (I thought the A16 is 16/18 bit. Where are the other bits from my 24 bits signal?)
Nice to hear the different in sound of the motu 2408 MK II and the A16.
So no settings needed. (I thought i would need a dither to 16 bit...)
connect your asio source to a mixer.
the LR of the mixer to the analog out (to check if there is really a signal)
the LR of the mixer also to the pulsar ADAT A 12 destination (or whatever your card is)
play your cubase. see if the lights the meters of the mixer are flashing.
check the master level meter. check the analog out if there is signal en your A16 should work too. check master/slave configuration. scope master, A16 slave.
If you use the xtc mode, you can directly select the adat out in cubase.
good luck.

Hi Carlo,
The A16 is connected through the ADAT ports of the card, as you said, so in the project it is represented by the ADAT modules.
The ADAT source is the port that brings your instruments connected to the A16 to the Scope project, the ADAT destination is where you have to connect the sound from inside the project to be sent out.
In the Scope project the hardware I/O modules represent the physical connections of the card from the point of view inside the project.
Check also that you have properly connected inputs and outputs and that you load and connect to the scope mixer or monitor output the correct modules (ADAT A or B).
I hope this can solve your problem.

To garyb:
I don't know really what is XTC, but i tested the XTCProject.pro routing the outputs to the ADAT-A dest (1,2) , but no sound. ¿?¿?¿
To Studio blabla:
>connect your asio source to a mixer.
Ok
>the LR of the mixer to the analog out (to check if there is really a signal)
I don't have the analog output cable.
>the LR of the mixer also to the pulsar ADAT A 12 destination (or whatever your card is)
Ok.
>play your cubase. see if the lights the meters of the mixer are flashing.
Ok, the lights are flashing. (that's new for me)
>check the master level meter.
Ok
>check the analog out if there is signal en your A16 should work too.
I can't do it without the cable.
>check master/slave configuration. scope master, A16 slave.
¿the light of the A16 must be in "optical" position?
If it's correct, then i have no sound.
I've checked the six posible combinations of the two butons on the front side panel of the A16, but nothing...
I'm beginning to be desperate.
¿may i need a special cable (mono to stereo or similar)?
To Alfonso:

That's the question, i don't know if i'm make it well, there are too many cables and connections for me.
