What do you do to KEEP youre health?

Post by Nestor »

This is a question I wanted to ask for a long time here in the forum:

What do you do to keep your health?

I can imagine that some of you are good at exercising, what kind of exercises you do and how good they are for you. Some may be more conscious and careful of what they eat, like myself for instance.

For me, one of the greatest things I’ve learned through my life has been Tai Chi Chuan, I studied it with an excellent French teacher that expended a few years with one of the famous Chinese masters of Tai Chi. I studied with this teacher for one year only, but enough to learn the basic more important movements. I found in these exercises a wealth of possibilities and ways of healing many things. For instance, I have had backache for ages because I am a very tall man with 1mt99cmts, almost two meters… So this exercises cured me for ever, no more backaches! With my wife, we do them every day as the open morning exercise of the day, and wow… you feel free and comfortable with all your bones, for the rest of the day. Then it is also great when you have flatulence because you eat something too heavy for your stomach, a few minutes of exercise, and you’re done. If you have tension, it is also great, because it relaxes you well. The fact that blood comes down to your head with this exercises betters blood circulation much, which is also very important for a good health.

Then of course, I don’t eat badly cooked food like chips and in general fries of whatsoever kind. Some times, very few times in a year, we do something heavy to eat like… I don’t know… let say pork sausages with bacon, egg, mayonnaise and fries, perhaps 4 or 5 times in 12 months in special occasions where you are in a party or something.

We tend to eat very healthy, simple but balanced and good tasty too, lots of fruits and vegetables.

One of the overlooked aspects of health is “TENSION”, we address it through relaxation, with or without music, and you can feel with absolute certainly, how important it is for our nervous system to relax every day, for at least 30 minutes, this balances everything in you. Emotions can harm your body too, this is a fact.

Of course, no cigarettes.

Antibiotics with fluorine atoms stuck at positions 5 and 9 work great for me. Good for your liver, kidneys, and CNS. BTW does anyone know a skin moistener that will stop your fingers from peeling off?

You’re right Hubird, utterly! Humour is vital in our lives! You don’t know me personally, but I’m a natural joker, I’m always the guy that makes people laugh in parties, family gatherings, etc. I love it!

Nevertheless, I’m absolutely opposed to this philosophy because some old friends finished their lives as ghosts that wonder in de dark… destroyed and empty… because they DID believe in this philosophy. That’s why I say so. Even in the context of being a joke, which I understand very well, I feel compelled to be against, absolutely and radically against this philosophy. This is also part of keeping your health :)

Well, talking about health, I have been recently in bed, for 15 long days… it was really bad. I’ve got Pneumonitis for the first time in my life, it is a hell of a pain in your chest, and coughs are so, so strong that you cannot breathe for quite a few seconds every time it comes, and you cannot control it, the body does. Unfortunately, the more you cough, well… the more you cough… it is a loop and inflammation goes up. This illness needs antibiotics and a careful treatment. Now I’m very well.

As in the rest of the world, in Chile there is a big unbalance in nature and this brings up climate changes never seen before. Suddenly it started to snow, then it was very warm, then it started to rain like crazy and people got wet in the streets because you’re not ready for it, snow and chilling again, then very warm… wow, crazy! Hospitals have reached their maximum and hundreds of people have been left in wait because there were no more beds left, not even one in the whole of the city. Chest infections triggered in every corner of Santiago and a huge number of people went ill. It became an outbreak problem in a matter of a week. The worst is for children and the elderly, because for them there is danger of death, and some unfortunately, died.

Interesting reading if you want to inform yourself about it:

Well, I suppose my diet is a bit mixed, but balanced. It could be better but it's okay.
Exercise-wise:
hill and fell walking
skiing
gardening - lots of it.
My main way to keep fit though is mountain biking. I aim to do around 150Km or 100 miles per week, regardless of the time of year. This is a mixture of road and off-road biking. I've been doing this for a few years now and am just 4000 miles short of going twice around the earth (24900 miles or so I'm told is once around the earth).

Typical shot of my sort of exercise and you can see more here:

Yes, very strange. There is a new way whether behaves and old people are surprised saying that they have never seen it in their lives.

Extreme cold does destroy the agricultural efforts, because it burns trees and many other bushes that are very hard to bring up, because they take several years go grow. So, honestly, it is quite sad to see all these farmers suffering with their families because they have lost all their efforts for years… and have to wait about 2 to 3 years to start a earning a living again. The government will do something, but common, this is South America man, support for farmers is still a joke.
