Look-ahead (delay) device

Post by voidar »

It would be nice to have a simple device that lets you delay a signal some msecs.

For now I have to use a standard Gate and conigure it to be open at all costs. But it might be doing something to my signal still. I don't know. I would just like a simpler device.

One controll -> delay in ms.

there is such a tool, I'm not at my DAW, but it was f.e. mentioned during the phasecancelling discussions :-)

I believe RedMuze made a small 200sample delay.

you can use any delay if you set the dry and feedback value to zero.

Yes, I know of the sample-delay, and I've used it. But I think 200smpl is too little for some transients?

And I would rather have one knob and not two (for both mono and stereo).

the adern sample delay is 2000samples

2000 / 44100 s ~ 45 milliseconds max delay time....

Or 41,6 in 48KHz ;)...

But this is only for modular. I've got flexor, I would just like one as a device too, one mono and one stereo.

Come one, you SDK guys can make one in seconds..!

delay plug

Hi,
There is a free little delay plug called millidelay which I use !
It shows ms and samples !!
Great little one.

Ah! Close one, but I think it will work fine. Could be cool to have a latency compensated stereo version too.

millidelay

Hi Voidar,
If you choose two mono ones with exactly the same latency (we are talking down to samples here !!) then these two are definetely phase compensated for stereo use.
There is no chance while so small to be spread amoung two dsp's !

Dimitrios

latency compensation for asio or external use. For sample delay compensation needed to align a Scope mixer mix which uses inserts or aux sends / returns that throw alignment off, etc etc ...

It's for eating our DSP 8)

Nah, my uses will be for look-ahead when using side-chaining.
