New Zarg Music/Wine Country Pro One Demo by Mika Hasanen

Post by johnbowen »

Wow! I had this customer contact me about buying the old Zarg Music/Wine Country Pro One, and shortly after I sold it to him, he wrote to ask if I could add some highpass and bandpass filters (like I did for the Prophet Plus). I asked him did he want 24dB or 12 dB slope filters? He came back with, "yes"....for both :D

So, I added the filters and a new filter select parameter, and sent it off, asking only that he create some new presets using the added filters.

3 days later, he sends, not only a bank of 100 great new presets, but a completed Demo Song showing them off! And I have to tell you, I was very, very impressed!!

So, here I present Mika Hasanen and his music creation, and his notes about it:

"Hi John,

here is now a few new Pro-One hp/bp sounds (100) and a demo song you can use if you want. These sounds work with unison mode, and i use 5 voices/sound. All the sounds used in the Demo song come from the pro one, except for the bass drum, which is a sampled sound. I used about 15 pro-ones in this demo!
The Preset Bank name is Zigma_Android ....."Zigma" is my old band name.
Maybe they are a little rare sounds...but useful in synthesizer music, i think. "

GREAT work, Mika - Thanks!

Hey, that's a nice new name you've got there. Not much "shorter" than zarg-music :P

Is there an up-date price for excisting custommers?

I don't know the internals of the Pro-12, so I couldn't really say what's different, but I do know that my WC Pro One version has an extensive Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer which is not in the original (of course), nor in any Creamware version of the Prophet family.

The Pro-12 may have subtle differences in the oscillator mix or phase levels, and in some of the value ranges for the parameters, as I don't know what was done inside....for example, the low cutoff frequency range could be set to 40 Hz instead of 12 Hz, or the envelope attack might max out at 5 seconds instead of 10 seconds, etc...I don't know. These are all little things that the designer can change and affect in the Scope DP/SDK system.

cheers,
john b.

p.s. there's also a slight functional difference between the Pro One and Prophet design - the Pro One allowed you to modulate Osc B frequency and PW, whereas the original Prophet did not, but I think this has been addressed in the Pro-12
