nuendo sound cuts durring playback of about 20 tracks

strange cuts of sound when i have a project with 20 tracks.
the transport indicates very high usage of disk cache.
any suggestions?

Do you have XP set for background services?

try enlarging the buffer size, or try a higher latency

What sample rate and bit depth are you recording at?

24bit 48khz

20 mono tracks @ 48k 24bit should be no problem. Check that the drive is using dma mode and not PIO
