Reaper is DAW audio /MIDI recording software.

The interface is very intuitive, and it is being updated constantly to fulfill user requests. The developer himself actually participates in the forum and responds to user feedback very quickly.

There are a lot of things about it that I like.

Anyway, just thought you should all check it out.

more than that :D
I was almost convinced that SAW was it for me, but Reaper outperformed it in sheer usability.

Can't see any main functionality in there that AcidPro doesn't already do better....

It's still a bit young to compete with even my venerable 5.51 version of Logic, but it has improvely immensely since it first came out and I suspect he's headed in a good direction in the future with it. I think the UI turns a lot of people off but functionally Reaper is far less bloated & runs faster than Acid imo.

I have a big problem with Reaper since I feel the developer is a shameless rip-off merchant. I can't stand people who just copy existing work then claim to have 'innovated'.

How can you rip standard Windows GUI elements?

Reaper eats ACID for lunch. Sonic Foundry/Sony killed their app by developing it poorly.

This Reaper thing is pretty interesting, thx for the link! :-)

That may be true, but IMO AcidPro has almost the worst ever designed UI.

Check-out the Pro 6 UI here:

:belm:

I spend a lot of my time desiging and implementing user interfaces, and that's really quite horrible :-)

The world's foremost WORST EVER UI is of course "The Matrix". Please don your 'Solar Eclipse' sunglasses before viewing the following (or better; view from behind 6 inches of lead-lined concrete to prevent retina/brain damage):

Wow! :o

I leave it as an exercise for the reader to draw any parallels between the two :-D

no reason to get exited...
Band in a Box wins this contest with ease :D
unfortunately they don't show the menus engaged...
except for the GUI it's in the top ten of my 'most sophisticated software of all times'

cheers, Tom

Wow, is that program still going? I had it on the Atari back when the Solar System was still young... :-)

Good to know, thx!

(edit) OMG I just followed your link, what a UI! :D

That's so funny! Band in the Box.

My drummer actually just met the guy who writes that.program last week. What a weird coincidence.

Graphically challenged UI indeed!

I don't have it currently installed, but it's the only software which I'd forgive it's UI for the sake of the content. It's one on the few examples where applied AI strategies actually lead to a practical result - I would have liked to meet the guy, too ;)

cheers, tom
