My Brotha's Of The South Pacific

Post by dawman »

A couple of Waynes from down under have given me some great ideas here lately, and viola !!
A trombonist w/ bass pedals, acoustic guitat ? This is RADD. So I thought I'd use my buddy's Rolands and try it. I am playing an analog synthesizer, which is mono anyway, and triggering Taurus Bass, and Minimoog bottoms ! I would have never thought of this. I can still switch over w/ my left or right 4 leads via MIDI also.
The other Wayne has sold me a Kurzweil Ribbon Controller from way back when, and said you could pan w/ it, pitch bends like the old CS80, and the A6 of today, I thought yeah, the bends. But I use a rotary cabinet that when it decellerates from fast to slow, I could pan my stereo field from stack 2 stack 4 even more doppler drifts. Fuck Me.

I Hope I Can Keep Discovering Here Like This !!!

Blue are the color of the life giving waters, they quietly understand.
Jimi Hendrix,........still my childhood idol.

Hey there Jimmy,

don't forget you can output CC from the ribbon (3 zones in-fact)...so you can wire that to any Scope synth parameter you like. it's a whole new control experience from twiddling knobs + you can tap on the ribbon to get instant jumps to any value you want (with spring back or memory, you choose).

I reckon you're the man to make good use of this thing.

Cheers, Wayne.

I am sure that you punished many. You still got one on the Andromeda A6 'eh?
Wakeman from Yes was so good with his, even though they were only pitch bend in nature. This thing should keep me busy. I am in mourning till it arrives.

Yip, still got one on the A6...there's nothing better for a loooooooooooooong filter sweep OR an instant filter jump with a tap. Don't think I ever use if for pitch bend itself.

Actually, the Kurzweil that's on it's way to you I originally purchased from Arturia as part of a CS-80V bundle they did way back (Arturia got a whole bunch of the last available units from Kurzeil).

And Arturia have turned up with a TigerSHARC hardware unit with the same CS-80 emulation, which I really like btw. Would be very interesting to hear the SHARC based version.

Wasn't Wakeman using a genuine CS-80 in those Yes days?

Thats why I brought it. Plus Porcarro ( R.I.P. ) from Toto on Africa. It fast became yesterdays news as soon as I got an OBX, as I was more inclined for Fat stuff, and not finess in those days.

:D

That slapped a grin on my face, Jimmy.

I think the Roland pedals are cool - they actually have a midi merge at the out - very handy.

you may excuse a short interupt from the cold and wet half of the globe...

since you're on ribbons and pedals
remember Oskar Sala with his Trautonium (the bird's screetch in the respective Hitchcock movie were all from this instrument) ?

it has 2 additional pedals supposed to be operated by the knees :P
you'll dig that Jimmy (and find someone to mount them properly), eventually it's a Vegas show, isn't it :D

cheers, Tom

I am still fairly limber from Tae Kwon Do competitions, and soccer from a young age,....Crescent, and roundhouse kicks over the Theramins polar design, while 2 x hands keep playing. When the leg tires from gravity ( old age ), it goes back to the Roland bass pedals which control the SE-1x analog mono beast. Since I fart like an old fat dog, I should consider a few Yamaha wind controllers w/ Orchestra Hit presets triggered from my crusty ass. This could all happen really, as long as I have a tube which releases measured amounts of Jaeger as a reward 4 good solos, like hamster treats!!! I once parted my wifes hair w/ a huge blast from my anal regions.

I love to bounce ideas around, it's great therapy.

you're all class Jimmy :-)

the ExpressionMate controller box does have a wind controller input (not sure what type), so your fantastic flatulence orchestra is one step closer
