Creamware Pulsar 1 old card new user - keys question

Post by Scotty »

I have just purchased a used pulsar card with 4 dsp. I want to run it on Win 98SE. I have successfully installed the card and the drivers and installer is prompting for the keys before it will allow me to install the software . THe seller provided me with the serial number of card but not the keys. Can you tell me if this is going to be a huge problem? I am only expecting the basic software package. When Creamware come back after the holidays will I be able to create the keys from the the serial number on the card? Also , what is the latest software that I can run on a Windows 98 box for the card? I am new to the Pulsar but experienced with the Oasys , EMU 1212m. This was in inexpensive way for me to experience the card and gauge my interest in the platform before I commit real money.

Thanks,

Scott Harris

bad timing my friend...Creamware is involved in an insolvency situation since a few days.
All kind of transactions are froozen, but maybe regenerating the socalled allkeys file is allowed as in fact it's there already.
But then you have the holidays...which are unsure when to end as it looks to me.
Normally Ralf at CWA should be emailed for the keys, but I'm afraid all acces to the Creamware files is blocked by the authorities.
I emailed Ralf yesterday, normally have an answer in a minute, but not now...

The only thing you can try, is trying to get to Ralf, rb[at]creamware.de
If you get no answer, you'll have to wait.
sorry mate :-)

welcome Scotty - but don't beam me up, please... :)
the easiest way would be the seller transfers his keyfile to you - there's nothing personal in it.
It is just a textfile allkeys.skf or equivalent is the Scope.rgy file in the sfp\app\bin directory (of the previous installation).
In fact it's that the system copies the keys from the file that CWA would mail you (allkeys.skf) into the file Scope.rgy (which is initially empty when installing)

You can run all versions under Win98, there are only minor changes between 3.1 and 4.0 - most are related to the visual appearance.
4.5 is just a name for more plugins included (if your card qualifies)
Imho there's no keyfeature or showstopper between 3 and 4, myself running 3.1 on a Tualatin 1.3.
I have a 4.5 download, too, but imho (if anything changed at all) then it would be WinXP related

cheers, Tom

Hi Scotty,

the latest software is V 4.5. If the seller didn't give it to you with the card, you could buy it for a few bucks at CW. But you have to wait (so we all do) what's goin' on with CW.

Cheers, Thomas

Thanks guys you are very quick. Its good to know that I can run the latest version but I'd be happy with 4.0. I don't think the original user ran anything other than the original installer (looks to be 1999) which was quite primitive compared to the new software interface.

I'll be patient and I have contacted the original owner asking for his key file which I believe was just a series of numbers written on a registration card. Another question...

Can I run this card strictly as a stand alone do you need to install asio drivers? I just want access to the IO / + synths and effects and was wondering if it is used directly if there would be latency.

On my OAsys PCI cards I have 0 latency if I just use the card in stand alone configuration. In ASIO mode , I'd be guessing that the ASIO latency would be signicant in this early version of the card.

I am impressed that Creamware were able to make the cards stackable and compatible throughout the entire line from old to new.

Sorry for the basic questions. I have read through the manuals and didn't see this question clearly answered

Scotty has his phaser set to "thanks".

there is no relevant latency when you stay in the SFP domain (output to the card's outs).
ASIO to and return sequencer will take some latency (say 20-80 samples, depending on your preferred Ulli settings in SFP, the sequencer will fcompensate bydelay compensation when set properly:-)

Thanks for the reply. I have now installed the key file, upgraded to pulsar 3.1 and I am completely pleased with the card! I have been wiring up projects all night and am in complete synth geek heaven.

I went through a progressive upgrade and notice that the modular 1 is not showing up in the menu system as it did in the first install v 1.1 but I have read it will work if I reinstall it and supply it with the original keyfile. When I upgraded from pulsar 1.1 to 3.1 I was impressed with the improvements to the interface, stability and additional efx and synths.

I am off now to explore some of the free offerings out there and understand that some of them need the modular 3 to work. That might be a purchase.

I am going to read up on the XTC mode as it might ulimately live in my main DAW . Presently, I have installed it in a server (ITOX DRAGON) which also houses one of my OAsys PCI cards and FX teleport. I can report that in this configuration both cards and streaming vsts work perfectly.

To use the venacular of the kids in Canada .... I'm stoked!

All Keys Question - Got it Now What?

Post by Scotty »

Rallf just send me a new password and log-in and an allkeys files.
Before I install Scope 4.0 software, what do I need to have. I am very impressed with his quick response to my request.

Do I need to log-in to mypage and download anything else, if so the links are dead.

Since I am installing Scope 4.0 over 3.1 are there any special considerations that I make? Do I uninstal the card and the drivers or update the drivers first and then install?

if you have the allkeys file and the install files, you're done. just install the card, then the driver, then the software. the installer will ask for the keys, point it to the allkeys file.

Dears Pulsarians,

Since few weeks, I have just purchased an old used Luna card likes scope home board, but the seller provided me only the hardware S/N nothing else. After installing the hardware and the related drivers on WinXP home edition(media center); I' ve successfully run the Luna 2.5 software filling the hardware S/N and following the installation procedures.
Anyway, since 2th January, I' ve sending many e-mail at creamware support address(rb@creamware.de, support@creamware.de),to get my account registration, but nowadays I never yet received your reply about this matter (login, allkeysfiles). :-?....However, Creamware web site pages:"user registration" and "my page",back again, so I'll try furthermore hopefully u'll reply me as soon as possible  .Thanks in advance for the support!!!!!
