This track is cool, dark and fast....

do you know the main intro sound track of "Event Horizon".. ?
It sounds very close to this one....
By the way its one of my main beloved movies (I think its one of the best in sci-fi genre), I can view more than one time! nice dark & dangerous athmosphere and cool visual fx...
8)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119081/soundtrack

maybe the track is "Funky shit", written by Liam Howlett

best regards....

Thanks hifiboom -
I know the movie and enjoyed it - didn't remember the opening tune though.
Thanks for the link - I see Orbital were involved as well

Sounds good & as wild as ever. I'd like to hear the drums more up front & maybe a bit harsher too. Have you heard much Spring Heel Jack? His "Busy Curious Thirsty" album is worth a listen or 5 if you've not heard it.

Keep up the good work!!!

Hey Shroomz - thanks for the encouragement.
I haven't heard any Spring Heel Jack - but I'll check it out.

I did try to push the drums a little more - but it became annoying - maybe I'll have to listen again with fresh ears. I've been working on so much stuff lately - trying to get enough "noisy"(controlled) stuff done for my CD.

Drums are layered loops - sliced and diced and put through various overdrive / distortion effects.

I had a little listen to some Spring Heel Jack - you're right - pretty amazing stuff.
Apparently one of the seminal DnB artists.

Yeah, he's a legend, but not what you'd expect from someone labelled as a dnb artist. I suppose he had to slot into the whole genre thing somewhere & since dnb is probably his biggest audible influence, there he went...

Yeah - EVERYONE has to be pigeon holed - so it seems.

Anyway - I like his stuff.

I also like what Richard Devine is doing - blows me away

Maybe we pigeon hole ourselves through jamming, composing etc based on our mind's perception of music no matter what supposed styles influence our thoughts. I think we need to break free somehow.

I would like to hear all of these somehow combined into one large piece.

Well I'm working on the "Skintight Noise Squid" thing . . .
Actually - I found myself changing direction so much on the project that I lost sight of it.
It was always just a collection of "feelings" associated with words / images / dreams - nothing concrete.
I found I was focussing too much on DnB / Glitch elements - trying to be clever but not really feeling any of it . . void . . . confused and disheartened.
Then THAT became the theme and it's something that I am actually feeling.

All tracks you have commented on are potential pieces of it.

I'm attempting to put it all together to represent the "mashed potato carpet" that is my mind :D

Yup - it's probably pretentious . . self indulgent drivel .. a meditation on the obscure / obtuse ..
I just want to explore (without the aid of drugs) and make the compilation something a bit special.

I can never focus and be more selective about what I create - and that's really because I never start with a clear / conscious ideation. Things take shape and morph as I experiment.
However, I CAN be more selective about which pieces to put into the puzzle now. I just need more suitable material - could take a while.

That's all probably too much information - but just wanted to try and explain.
:D
