vst system link works but..

Post by angel777 »

Here how it works:

1st pc: nuendo3 pulsar1 asio1 driver-->spdif out to 2nd pc
2nd pc: RME HDSP spidif in-->asio in drivers nuendo3
..and vice-versa..

on 1st pc latency in 22ms on 2nd pc is 12ms.
the names of both pcs compare in the vst system link window.

The sequencers start toghether when press play on the 1st or on the 2nd.
When set locators on a pc the other follow the first.

Here the problems:

I tried to record the same track on both pcs, when press play on the pc equipped with pulsar the secon follow the firts often with about a ms of delay(..about i say..and..often not always).I hear this delay better when using the click.

when press play on the pc equipped with rme the other get the synch more difficulty or after some beats..

What can i do?..the problems are the asio1 or asio 2 drivers?there are some settings i can change for vsl?

Thanx a lot!

Firstly what kind of cables are you using? I hope they are quality digital spdif.

Are you actually using the cable for audio as well as sync? I'm pretty sure when I tried system link, which was a few years ago running a yamaha sw1000 in one pc and an echo mia in the other, the spdif was purely for clock information.

..the cable are not spdif cable but i don't think this is the problem cause this happen when using adat optical too...

Use Asio2 drivers.

Have you tried one audio card the master and also try a lower latency.

and second card as slave and keep latency low.

make sure both projects are at same sample rate.

Also are you getting audio between the systems ok?

ok..i'll try asio2 drivers..
The audio is ok,the sample rate is the same..
The pc with pulsar 1 has latency of 22ms the one with RME is 12ms.
Thanx!

the audio is ok but there is no way to go vsl: i've tried the asio 2 too..
I think i'll buy a third pc with rme so:
2 pcs with rme 9652 linked with spidf slaved to
1 pc with pulsar + synchplate
will work?

So are you saying that system link is not showing a network connection between computers?
Can you not get latency any lower on these two systems, what are the system specs?
