New track, B@Love :-)
Tried to exchange the hat parts by the newly acquired Elektron Machinedrum, but I wasn't sure it got better.
I have to study the machine deeper first, so I hope new tracks will be more minimal and tekno.
Hope you enjoy anyway, it's kind of playing with changing between 4/4 and 6/4-over4/4 :-)
cheers.

Truly kickin, cobber. Love the 2/4 - 6/8 stuff. You're getting a great energy level in the mix too.

Little Leonard rocked out to this also - we did a robot/superhero dance to it 8)

good balanced composition I think, nothing really "pops" out, but I think that's the desired effect. The triplet sections are executed very naturally. Great for a passive listen at the workplace.

thanks guys for this warm bath, thank you John for fixing it so damn fast :D

@ Ken, 'nothing really pops out' : not untrue, good obeservation :-)
I did three serious attemps to find that one melodical smart thing to give it that warm 'female' finishing touch.
Shroomz recently describes so well the problems you have to face then, and without starting to hussle the arrangement I was not able to find something that couldn't be missed.
So i decided to keep what I had.
I consider rhythmic fun elements like playing with 'time settings' over parts as 'male', so I still regret it.
No, I will not add that (un)famous one-tone-Solina-hi-strings part, unless the A&R manager asks me for

@ Shroomz, you're probably right, but I can leave that to the dj.
Like it is now, he could use the track as a latest one, as it silences very slowly to zero db :-)
Probably not realistic, as it isn't the killer track that justifies it to be the very last track of a set ;-)

cheers.

Perfection?
There's always a point where changes to a mix make it another mix...
It still can be that that other mix is a better one...
I discovered from ducumentaries that painters have the same dilemma, when do you stop?
They often work on several projects at the same time, as the paint has to dry for a next action.
Sounds terrible to me, but probably the contrary is the case.

thanks for your nice comment :-)

it's kinda archetypal. a good example of the thing that it is.

reminds me of the ferris bueller's theme song, the movie.

Superb Huub
I wish I'd had this on my journey up to Scotland - the miles would've flown by.

Love everything about it.

Shows how complex minimalist needs to be sometimes.

Everyone should have this at their New Years Eve party

A wonderful example of talent there mate. Of course, it wasn't Scope cards alone that created such splendour. I'd be interested in knowing what Mastering techniques you follow... or is that a Taboo question?
Don't mean to be nosey... I'd sleep soundly at night if I could knock out some beats as cool as those. Nice work man

mixing? really nothing spectacular!
The MachineDrum is 12 bits, I even didn't use the Creamware platform at all, as I'm preparing switching to two macs.
(Have ADAT connection working already, waiting now for Cubase SX3 (OSX!! :-) ) and a MoniSwitch KVM :-) )

So I just spend some time on volume mixing (most important part), eq-ing (BlueTubes in particular), and sparely applied two reverbs (long and short) and a bit of delay.
Oh yeah, a limiter was involved, just to cut the small spikes every now and then.
Thanks for your positive comment :-)

Very interesting use of cross-rhythms there (I just made that term up! :-))

I'd definitely get down and boogey if'n this came on at a club! I'm at work at the mo', so I might get some funny looks if I 'got down'... :D
