I do miss the green uber-smiley face. I'd mix 'n' match some of the old and some of the new (just to be awkward...)

(edit) ah, 'Mr Green' is here after all! My personal favorites can be found over on the Dogs On Acid forums:

http://www.dogsonacid.com/

BTW, I wholeheartedly recommend anybody checking out the DoA articles in 'The Grid' - it's a great resource on mixing, production, mastering etc. Although aimed mainly at DnB, it could be applied to making any kind of music.

How about a 'no smilies' option John? Half the time they're getting over-used, used at the wrong times & even often get used in a non-genuine manner. People should say what they think without these false/fake graphical emotions imo, although I do like this one.. ;¬)

If I could turn them off & not have to look at them, that would do just fine.

What is the effect of changing the profile oprtion 'always enable smilies' to 'no' (or off) ?

I've just done that to my profile, so here's a test:

:o

:D

(edit) Aha! That just shows the ASCII characters, not the smilie(s).

I would like emoticons slightly bigger than what they are in both formats, older and newer, and would like for us to build them. I would be happy to do them myself, if we agree something about it. But for even more fun, if all of us participate designing some, that could be great. What do you think John?

I vote for making something new. I don't like the new and I really like the old but we have a lot of taleted guys that could put the "cherry on the cake" of the big improvements of last days IMO :-)

Well, I am refering to do OUR emoticons, I mean, not an exact reproduction of what they arelady are, but emoticons that could express things we go through while in the forum, for instance:

*I am frustrated with my system

*I have serious problems

*I’ve got a new plugin

*I have a new PC

*I bought a new SCOPE system

...and then the common ones like:

*I am sad

*I am happy

*I am laughing

*I am angry

*I am wondering

Etc., etc., but with a special touch that will be unique to us, and to the Z forum, no other forum in the world will have our faces...

Slightly bigger because, as suggested, we all tend to rise our resolutions and so they look too tiny.

I am nevertheless concerned about the load they will pose to the forum. The old and new emoticons are about 4kb, the new bigger ones could be about 10 maximum, this is nothing, but can make a big difference in creativity.

I wouldn’t mind to do them myself, all of them, but I don’t want to be an egoist doing so, that’s why I have offered for everybody to participate in the fun. We could build one per participant and so we will have them ready in just a few days, even if we don’t have much time, like me. Then, of course, I think it is fair that John be the judge about what to keep or leave. If there are, let say, 20 smiles, well of course only one will have to be kept for use and the rest discarded.

If there are more of you that agree to send via mail these emoticons to John, please, let us know here. But we still need John’s answer, so don’t do anything before we get a yes.

Cheers
