Z-link and related plates and connections need clarification

Post by musurgio »

Hi,
As a result of my search I found out the following.
There are TWO z-link plates ,one with one Z-link and two ADAT ports AND one with two z-links and one adat port , correct ?
I assume that each z-link connects to a set of 8 in out box like luna or half of A16U , correct ?
Means that if you wanna use a A16u you MUST have the z-link with the two firewire connections, right ?
Are these plates common or one of these was an old version not anymore available ?
I am looking for a z-link with ONE z-link connection and TWO adat ports, any clew as where to find ?
I couls also trade with a classic plate.
The old A16, not Ultra, does this have z-link connections ?

Thanks
Dimitrios

To clarify this for you> This is called Scope Home Expansion plate. and it only connects to the Scope Home or Luna/powesampler/Elektra card.
this type of plate is only for the 3 DSP card and not the Scope 6DSP or 14/15 DSP.

NO the A16 non ultra does not have Zlink.

Thanks

YES.

the Zlink I/O plate for the 6 DSP has 2 x Zlink +1 ADAT + unbalanced analog & Spdif.

Will the I/O expansion for Scope Home also work with Luna 1 ?

The second expansion you mention - the one with 2 zlinks, does not show up in the webshops I've browsed, nor is it on the CW site. Although they hint at its existance in the specs for I/O options. Is it really a seperate card, or just a different version of Scope Project and Professional? If it's a seperate card, will it work with Pulsar 1 or 2?

Scope Home and Luna are the same hardware.

So the Scope Home Expansion plate used to be called Luna Expansion plate

the website does not sell accessories. Zlink plate for the 6 or 14 DSP can be bought directly from creamware Germany or you special order it from your nearest dealer.

you may contact ralf (rb@creamware.de) for Price and on how to order directly from creamware.

Are these plates meant to replace the IO-plate already attached to the card, or is the plate an addition to the existing IOs on the card?

the Scope Home Expansion plate is simply an expansion to the existing I/O

it dies not take away the existing I/O . it only add more I/O like the 2 adat and 1 Zlink

making your luna has in total 2 Zlink 2 ADAT and the analog and spdif

How about the 6 DSP version, is that the same principle...?

you are mixing the Scope HOME with the 6 DSP.

the Scope Home Expansion is for Scope home only. it does not work with Scope 6 DSP as an attachment, hence Scope home EXpansion.

the 6 DSP cards known as pulsar2 or Project do NOT have expansion plates.
for more I/O you add another card.

you can add a combo of cards but you can not exchange I/O plate or expansion bewtween Scope Home and Scope Project.

you are starting to confuse me :)

If you read the whole thread you will see that there are in fact plates for the 6 dsp cards as well. They are not usually found in shops though - but can be ordered directly from CW.

This is also discussed in other threads.

Great!

Now please answer my question, is it an independent plate or is it a replacement for the IO-plate that came with the card?

I got it to get me two another ADAT connections, together with the one I had.
Hm, what do I have again, uh, a Pulsar2 with ins and outs, An XTC and a Pulsar2 SRB...
hm, I'll check my mac when back at home later, before making faults.

so when you say 6 DSP you mean an SRB or an XTC card with no I/O plate. Now I understand.

ALL 2nd generation SRB's or XTC cards can have a Scope I/O Plate mounted on them.

However the plate is called Scope I/O plate and it comes in 3 configurations
(it is not called an Expansion plate. Simply a Pulsar I/O plate or a Scope I/O plate)

here are the types that you can get for your 6 DSP card:

Zlink I/O plate: (unbalaced connectors): 1 ADAT + 2Zlink+ SPDIF + analog
Classic I/O plate (unbalaced connectors): 2 ADAT + SPDIF + analog
Plus I/O Plate (XLR blalanced connectors) : 2 ADAT + SPDIF + analog

the fourth configuration is discontinued and is called the 24ADAT I/O plate: 3 x ADAT

PS: you can only use 1 Plate at a time with a 6 DSP card.
you can not use 2 plates on 1 card. see the plate has to be mounted on the card and it must fit like a clove. :)

However you can buy more than 1 I/O plate and interchange them anytime you like.
cheers
