Windows Vista will feature guitarist Robert Fripp for the startup sound. Microsoft's Steve Ball (not to be confused with Steve Ballmer) is the music manager for Vista. Ball studied guitar under Fripp

Yep, you are right but in about one year, with the invention of iTunes, Apple managed to go from high brow to the bottom of low brow. We were subjected for so long to the cry babies complaining about Microsoft's anti-competitive behaviour. Now they release iTunes and guess what? The music only plays on iPods! It is the most hideous and uncool way to sell music!

not to mention it's overpriced as well.
So glad i bought an iAudio M5L instead of an iPod. It's cheaper, has way more storage (compared to similar priced iPod), looks cooler, has better sound, much better battery life, and you don't have to use stinking iTunes to get your tunes on it. Oh and it also plays pretty much every digital audio format in existence, icluding FLAC and OGG.

Re: Fripp ..... who's gonna fork out $1000 for this operating system..... kiddies? Nuh. Their moms and dads. People who grew up with Bowie, Pink Floyd etc. I would suspect the target market is aged 40+........

If it's like Windows 98, you have to locate the file, right click on it and then click on another tab to see who made it so I don't think many people will find out.

There's no end to parents spoiling their kids.

I can hear the kids now:"Dad, would you terribly mind if I got rid of this lame music?" Mind you, Lark's tongue in aspic part 3 might turn them on...hehe

Hey! I'm a major Fripp fan. It doesn't mean I will fork out a couple of grand to buy new software because his music is in the operating system. I disable that crap anyways.

I figure it'll get sold this way.......couple go to buy latest entertainment setup ...... check out the video mail and videoconferencing and all the other goodies ...... salesperson says" this is the way of the future... anything else is old technology" and they leave 6 grand poorer but with some serious technology.

Then after all the bugs have been ironed out, business might start to look at it.
