I was surfing around the cubase forum, and found this (for some of us) interesting thread:

http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=53664

well, actually the most interesting part about that thread was gone, but I did some more searching, and found these:

Rumour has it that Cubase 4 (not SX'y anymore? ) will be released this year.

Steinberg has announced that there will be a free maintenance update of the official SX3 verison 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 within the second half of 2006:

I feel like I am held hostage because I have version 2 and if I fall more behind it will get more expensive to upgrade. Eventually it fails as it will not work on new operating systems nor will I be able to easily work with other musicians.

I just didn't think there was a big enough difference between version 2 and 3 of sx. It was a money grab.

One time I waited so long to upgrade that they almost lost my registration. It turned out to be on a card, in a closet, in a back room.

if it would have been on a HD file, the motor probably would have refused to spin up...

Most of the stuff in my SX3.1 is not used as I do everything in Scope, I'll upgrade only if new audio bitrates are included at least 32bits fixed, otherwise I really don't know what reason to spend more money could I have....
