Ultra A16 ¿Big Problem?

sorry, i'm not speak english

I have always worked normally with this converter, but, today in the morning i had a problem.

I'm very worried

when i play anything instrument the ultra a16's vu meter stops in -3dbs (more of less), the virtuals vu meters too (in mixer 2448 and sonar.)

There is a -3dbs limiting... i think.

Sounds like a digital saturation in any case.

The UA16's jumpers always in +4dbu mode, i didn't never change it.

Hola, chicos.

Siempre he trabajado comodamente con mi estudio basado en powerpulsar, pero ahora en la mañana me ha sucedido algo rarísimo y estoy desesperado.

Al parecer el conversor ultra a16 no satura en rojo en sus VU meter, pero se escucha saturación digital de todas formas. Le he dado caña a los previos y efectivamente parece ser que corta/limita en -3dbs, osea ¡¡En la entrada!!

Los vu meters de Sonar 4 y de el Mixer 2448 en el scope fusion platform tampoco saturan pero definitivamente se escucha mal.

Nunca he tenido problemas hasta ahora, el conversor siempre ha estado configurado en +4dbu en todas sus opciones.

Les agradecería ayuda los más rápido posible, estoy deteniendo un proyecto y eso es una lata

Edit: por cierto... estoy pensando una cosa... cuando compré el conversor venía preparado para la instalación eléctrica europea, con lo que compré su correspondiente adaptador. ¿puede ser que ya se haya j*dido? solo tiene 2 añitos

from your spanish addition I guess that you think about a problem with the power adapter, or something changed with your electrical installation.

This could in fact be - if there's less power than expected the unit looses headroom.
It doesn't fail completely (which it would if power drops even more), but doesn't work correctly.

just checked the specs of the PSU on Creamware's website.
It's a 12 Volt 2-3 Ampere AC (!) type, that means it's just a transformer.
It's NOT one with + and - labels, the label looks like the tilde ~ symbol.

If you have trouble finding a PSU with these specs, you could as well use a transformer from Halogen lights, a 25 to 30 Watt type

Just find someone experienced with electricity, who connects the cables properly - one side of that thing can be deadly (!)

OK, it's checked with a new adapter.

The old AC adapter isn't working properly, now i know it. Sounds better, yes, but now... (it's funny), ¡There is DC offset!

weird...

I guess UA16 it's broken

what do you think?

I never openend a A16U, so I don't know what's inside - but if you experience a DC offset (that wasn't there previously) it's most likely 'just' the power regulation.

Which means 'standard' repair components that an electronic service can exchange locally (unless there's still warranty on the box).
