Hello PlanetZ!

After a long long time and lots of money i've finally managed to
build a new D.A.W for the crew.

But im having troubles.

Cubase will detect my ASIO...
But when i expand to 4 or even 30 channels,
Cubase seems oblivious to it.
I can only find the main channels.
Anything above the 2 main channels goes unoticed by Cubase it seems.

This is the first time something like this
has ever happened, and amazingly this is the only problem we have right now.

Anyone?

have you tried adding busses in vst connections?

I have Cubase SX1 upgraded to Cubase 1.3.
Same version as i've always used.

I would if i could.

I add ASIO Source in SFP. I then add channels to say 6 channels!
Then i go into Cubase SX and to "Devices/VST Outputs" like i always do.
But here there are only BUS 1 showing.
Doesen't matter how many busses i add in SFP.
Cubase is totally oblivious!

What is going on!
My new hardware shouldn't be a problem. Or could it?
And i run the same software setup as before i got this new hardware.

aaw man...this whole problem is just so stupid...

press the 'Add Buss' button under either the 'inputs' or 'outputs' tab in the 'Devices/VST Connections' window. A small window will pop up allowing you to select mono or stereo buss config, after which, press 'ok'. You've now added a new mono or stereo buss in your cubase project.

No, I meant go to 'devices' (one of the main drop down menus at the top) then select 'VST connections' & a large window will appear where you should be able to see your input & output busses under 2 separate tabbed sections (tabs are at the top left) If you don't have this maybe your on an older version of SX. What I'm describing applies to SX version 2. It's ages since we used an older version of SX, so I can't comment if that's what you're using.

oops sorry dude, I just noticed you're using SX 1.3, my mistake

Sorry, I can't help.

It's cool Shroomz!

Because i found it!!!!

It was in the Devices/device setup/VST Multitrack section,
where one chooses wich kind of driver should be used for
"multitracking".
Well i set it to ASIO Scope as it should be.
But when i checked it again it set itself back to
"ASIO Multimedia"?!?!
I set it back to ASIO Scope and then pressing "Apply".
Everything seemed okay but then suddenly i would loose all channels
accept 2 !?!?!
I performed this procedure over and over again with the same results.

Cubase would end up setting it back to "ASIO Multimedia"!!!??

I didn't think something like this would even be possible!!
I mean the whole system didn't freeze or reebot.

Now i reeinstalled Cubase without updating it with the 1.3 version,
and everything works like a charm!!!!

Have anyone of you experienced this kind of bizzare behaviour before?

We haven't had a D.A.W to work with since
September last year.
It was at this time everything just went
straight to hell.

Thank you all for your help!
As usuall planetz people stand up for one
and other.

Finaly we can now continue with the projects
that were supposed to be finished last year.
And also.. the new P.T.C-Crew webb page will be updated shortly!

Btw 1.6 was the 'best' version for Cubase SX 1.x. In fact 1.6 was the most stable ver for many people until 3.2, at least in my experiences.

Thanx Valis!
I'll be shure to try it out!

Glad you solved it by yourself my friend.

The problem you've encountered is because of the following:

The average user normally require 2 ASIO channels (1 stereo pair).
But you where adding additional stereo pairs if i remember it correctly.
The thing is that when you open your project in SCOPE it's not certain that the program loads up the correct number of ASIO channels, so when you load up Cubase, the expected ASIO setup is nowhere to be found and as a result of that it reverts to the only thing it knows will exist (the included generic crappy-ASIO multimedia driver) as a sort of 'patch' that prevents cubase from crashing totally.

I've had this problem with my fruity ASIO loop a couple of times now, mostly because i forget to load up my ASIO template in scope prior to loading the project in fruity, but it's more of an annoyance than a real malfunction.

and 3.2 would hopefully be more stable eh? Sorry I was thinking 3.02. I actually have (and occasionally use) Nuendo 3.2.x here rather than Cubase, perhaps I was confused. Anyway my point was that the 2.x versions didn't seem to fare as well as 1.x, but now the current 3.x versions are stable (as stardust says)

I wonder when SX will achieve code parity with Nuendo again (aside from Nuendo's features)?
