Homeless People In Las Vegas
I am one of those guys that feel sorry 4 dis advantaged people. Everytime I drive by these guys and girls also, it breaks my heart. I feel so guilty driving through town in my SUV with freezing AC on, and see them struggling to come over and grab a couple of bucks for a drink, or some food. It was 118* last week, and it was killing me during load ins, that's right guys, I no longer have a crew, or much hardware. But I go home everynight and load out, and practice. The sex comes at wake up time in my crib, great source of pleasure and excersize at once. These people just break my heart though. I know they wake up in squallor, and struggle in the heat just to gather some bucks to eat. This is so shameful for such a wealthy nation to have on it's streets. Is my sucsess due to their failure? I finally start getting ahead of the game, and now I have to feel guilty 4 it? I am going to write my congressman 4 the very first time in my life. It probably will have no bearing, but here in Las Vegas, there is so much money to make if one is willing to work hard, that the state, not the Federal Gov., should share it's theft of all who visit. We have the largest income from conventions worldwide, and the largest income from gambling revenues worldwide. Surely we could house and feed these people. I have such a difficult time seeing this. It must stop now. Maybe with my sick sense of humor, I could start an all lip synced, sequenced band, and call it the homeless, just to draw attention to their strife, and help me overcome my guilt.
Now what are you gonna do about it?
(Feelings of guilt ain't gonna resolve anything;)

saw on tellie once that it's easy to get roofless in California (and other states?) without being a drugadept or being psychotic or something, just by loosing a job and having some depts.
there's not much room between being a looser and a winner, was the message.
In my country they are develloping programs for people in problems to sanitate depts and prevent them from making more (creditcard) depts and so on.
Homeless people do cost the society also mony, at the end

Guess I've been influenced by the international friends I've made here at the Z. The Europeans speak of their neighborhoods as safe and beautiful. So are ours as long as you stay out of the drug infested areas. I guess with financial sucsess comes guilt and shame. I never felt this way when I was struggling to make 50 large a year. But if it's money 4 the homeless, or another SFP DAW, well I think we both know the answer to that. I wish they all didn't look like Willie Nelson though.

Just a thought, inspire a producer to get some of the homeless into a studio.
Make a project, called homeless sound, or whatever.
Give them songs to sing, sure some of them can play instruments. Maybe a Las Vegas gospel can be born then.
It will give them some food and most important, a sense of life again.
Just an idea in the morning with my first cup of coffee.
Anyway all sides would benefit.

That's Capitalism for you. Shove millions of people together in massive cities and everybody gets along and helps each other out? No, I don't think so. There's too much climbing up based on pushing others down.
What you describe is a microcosm of the World we live in, really. The West being relatively affluent at the expense of the poorer nations. And all of it being at the expense of our environment.
People need a massive shift in their value systems, in my opinion. We value things, stuff, money, possesions etc. but they're all just ephemeral, transitory things with little or no real benefit. I value emptiness, space and silence. These things are much more useful, rewarding and give one a sense of peace than all the crap that our consumer/product/profit-driven society constantly pushes into our faces.
I'm not saying we need nothing at all here, we have basic needs for sure but things would make a bit more sense if our focus was people and environment orientated rather than for profit and product.

I don't think there's any shame about not being or being a down and out.All anyone asks for in any walk of life is respect, and if you give them that, then it's already more than enough.
p.s.
That came In a moment of inspiration I might add.

I have to sort some things.
I excuse myself that I have wrote about sides. That´s was silly and isn´t meant to be as it probably sounds.
I never split humans into sides we are all one.
Trust me, I know the "poor" life more than any other life.
To clear the benefit thing.
It wasn´t meant in any sense of money, the producers of such project will benefit in their humanity, it´s good to do something good.
The homeless will benefit from such a project, because they get a chance to start something new.
I hope I could clear it up a bit.

here in vienna we have a project that works so far very good;
its like this:
we have hundreds of restorantes who throws away their food when the 'use befor date' apears (old food but still eatable);
so social people driving from restorante to restorante collecting those food day by day and bringing it to the poor;
they made this without taking money for their work;
the manager of restorante feels good becourse he helps the poor and he saves money becourse waste management is expensive here;
and the poor are happy becourse of free food;
if that works here why not in vegas;
so if you have a restorente on your way make a short stop with your suv and collect;
good vibes from vienna
