Yes, I had the same on my PRO-12. It is a midi loop.

Let me explain. In Cubase I had the channel to receive all inputs.

The device was connected by USB. OK, so I change to a different patch on the device, it changes the patch, it then sends transmit information to Cubase, Cubase then resends the transmit to the device, and then the data goes around an around in a loop sending flashing lights etc.

To fix it, switch the midi in to the cubase (or whatever you are using) to the master keyboard you are using only. i.e. do not set to recieve midi from the ASB device.

Quickest way to test this is to, next time it happens go to your DAW and change settings and switch off the Minimax midi input in your DAW. It should sort it immediatly.

I must admit though it does look quit impressive flashing away and some of the burps etc it does in this mode are quite impressive!

Thanks for your input. I have a keyboard connected to the MIDI IN port and a PC on the USB port, no other MIDI devices at all. The lights still flash every now and again. Also from time to time notes get stuck and the only way to stop them is to power off/on. Also notes stop playing altogether ! The MIDI data monitor on th PC shows that data is OK, so the fault is in the Minimax.

Unfortunbately despite many emails to Creamware.de I have had no reply.

If you disconnect the USB and just use the midi in what happens?

I suggest that when you twiddel with the device (especially changing patches) the midi data is sent via usb and then sent back again.

What DAW are you using as I believe you are retransmitting the data from Minimax (from twiddling) back to the Minimax via the USB? It took me ages to work it out when it happened to me and I lost alot of patches this way. I ensure that when in cubase it does not receive data from "ALL MIDI INPUTS" for my ASB channel (please note that the USB is still a MIDI connection and transmits/receives data).

I would also remove the midi in to the ASB and always play your keyboard through your DAW. ie keyboard is connected to midi in on PC and then use ASB USB to transmit data (switch off midi in from ASB USB!).

I find Creamware do not answer at all. They provide a very poor service to what is "potentially" an excellent product. I am still waiting for the glide on the PRO12 to work the same as the Prophet 5 but still no answer - nothing!

I've found that you can't have both the USB and MIDI ports connected at the same time. It confuses the Minimax and causes strange problems.

Removing the USB connection should clear things up for you.

Shame there is not a switch on the device to switch to either MIDI from MIDI IN or MIDI from USB.

When playing from a keyboard without the PC on you want to use the keyboard so you want to switch of USB.

However most of the time you are connected to the PC via USB and then NEED to switch off the MIDI IN.

I have my MIDI IN cable "dangling" via velco on my ASB so I can plug in my master keyboard if I do not want to use the PC. I then pull it out when I am using the PC. However, Be sure to follow my steps to prevent midi loops in my earlier posts when using USB!

I may just make myself a MIDI switch box with bits from Maplin that merely switches off the MIDI IN to my ASB when using my PC.

Would cost me a couple of pounds at the most._________________
