Has anybody tried to fix bad sectors on a hard drive?

I have a Maxtor IDE drive that is dying and I'd like to know if results are satisfying enough before I throw it away.

Thanks

You could try a low-level format but IMHO it's not worth it.. it's too risky to save valuable data to a drive that's had problems.

It's far more common with a dying hardware that it is a firmware issue (the drive electronics) than problems with the magnetic media. I agree, ditch the drive.
