Unfortunately, another BIG thread has been released, it’s real name is Nyxem-E, everybody in the world was expecting for it to be released tomorrow, but it was released today. Unfortunately, there are already 500.000 computers infected. I don’t know about the details yet, as I am reading.
Dear Z friends, protect yourselves reading through the following links, so everybody keep save, and of course, if you know something new or relevant about it, please, post it here so everybody knows:

I am sure that an everyday user like you or me, will never open an email without care... that's why I warn people about the .exe files, that can be everywhere...
I know of people that have double boot systems, and they don't have antivirus on them; others switch off the antivirus when installing not to have coliding problems with it. Etc., there it is the problem.

Huub, weren't you using a PC for surfing the web? :>

hehe...
...but I must disappoint you Atom, I use my pc essentially for Xcell, for internet banking, and as cd player in my sleeping room, and -indeed- to download stuff from sites that the mac can't open or shows bad text layout and thelike
And...I have -believe it or not- no acces to the internet anymore with it, and I don't have any idea why.
I checked all IP settings in XP, my router is OK also, so I am d-d-d-desperate, haha.
Have to reinstal XP I guess, don't know nothing to solve it in an intelligent way.
@Stardust: ...to do nothing...no firewall, no antivirus program, as there are no attacks written for macs, as far as I know or experience, but you know that
no offend btw, just couldn't resist

hubird, before you go thru the hassle of re-installing XP, try running this little utility named "WinsockXPFix.exe". You can get it here:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
It's done magic for me everytime I had to deal with a broken networking stack in XP.

solved
that friend just deleted the''old'connection, he let create XP a new one, which found the driver of the router automaticly in it's library.
At least that's how I understood it...
And who said Windows s*cks?
Yet it's unbelievable how much personnal settings you can eh, set.
But at the same time I was not able to find out if XP uses the right router's IP number...
Glad it works again tho

Hubrid, I must clarify something, the gateway address that you will see is the address that windows will search for a router if that address is specified manually or the actual router's address that Windows found automatically if Windows is set to autodetect the address. Routers typically have a fixed address 192.168.0.1 (mine at home is actually 10.10.10.1) and you should look in the user manual for that address. Then you should be able to type in that address in the internet explorer and access the router's internal configuration.
In Windows you can specify a gateway address or you can let Windows automaticaly detect it.
(OK, this maybe is too much information than you wanted to know)
