how do I side chain in cubase without using sfp? I don't think the default cubase compressor does side chains.. what plugin do I need to do side chain, and how do I set it up?

dB Audioware has a pretty good DX plug for $39 - "dB-D dynamics processor: Compressor, limiter, expander, gate and brickwall limiter with true sidechains".

Can someone explain what sidechaining is? I tried it and noticed it makes the mix sound louder but I don't know what it's doing.
