I've been forced to make it at low cost (= quickly).
It's intented to be played in loop and hopefully makes a relaxing and hypnotic feel.
Comments are welcome. I'm new to ambient stuff.
I don't know..
It sounds good stige, but for a 16 1/2 minute loop, it's possibly too melodic & linear. I'm not sure, as you say it's for a winter arts festival, but my first impression is that it could become boring rather than hypnotic. I skipped/jumped quickly through the second half.
It does sound good as it is, but i'm only being honest
Constructively, i'd suggest less of an 'anthemic' feel, less piano that kind of thing.

Shroomz,
Honesty is what I'd expect, and thanks for commenting and speaking aloud.
If thinking the context where this is intended for, I was wondering if it's too much background or too up 'in your face'. After all, the art is in the main role.
If you felt bored, perhaps it's ok in the way it is now. At least not stealing too much attention.
The real length is 'only' 10:14, but variable encoding seems to mess up windows media player.
Someone else wish to comment?
If not, this piece may be deleted among the first, when planetz runs out of h/d space

heres a though. if this is for a winter expo, how about this:
-keep your pads
-do a second "song" with rythmic elements
- a third whith whale singing etc
now, make them into seperate pieces of .wavs, each with slightly different lengths. play them simultaniously as loops, and it never gets boring since the elements "never" hits the same place twice

Hi and thanks for comments again
Interesting suggestion Piddi. It's maybe too late to make big changes for this one, but definitely worth trying if I ever do these things again.
Thanks Erminardi, imagine a frozen lake, whiteness far beyond your eyes can see. Grey sky, cold wind with falling snow..
Well, I was asked to make it 20 mins long total, so I've been adding lots of new elements. Hopefully less boring, and not too intrusive. Perhaps this should be called a soundtrack rather than a song.

Thanks again for your comments
I wish I could upload the latest version, but there is no way to make 19min song to fit 8Mb.
As braincell suggested, the drum section is also now re-worked.
Paul, for the pads I used Angelina VSTi. What could be better suited for this type of music
Then all pads were convoluted with various sound sources to make them sound more ethereal and fantasy. I used Sony Acoustic Mirror for that task.
cheers
