Hello, i'm pretty new to the forums. I was just wondering what controller is most commonly used to control the virtual mixers of scope. Also i'd like to route the I/O from the back of my a16 to a surface console. I was hoping to accomplish both these needs in one unit. But i'm not sure if i can get exactly what i'm looking for here. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You're probably talking about midi control surfaces, but I'll interject some other options here as well, for using analog mixers. I don't have any experience with the Mackie Control or whatever.
I was looking at using a Mackie 1602 and getting the TDIF(DB25) -> TRS 1/4" cables to tie them in. An extra option is something like the Furman 24-port TRS 1/4" patch panel (PB24?). [ I do have to say for guys at my non-professional level the Allen & Heath WZ20s is a pretty cool looking mixer as well. It's more expensive, and it's not clear how easy it is to get the direct outs from that, but definitely nice for stereo. ]
But the cheaper/smaller footprint is to just use something like the Big Knob or the Central Station for speaker control and protection, and do all the mixing in the computer. And ignore the patch panel or analog mixing altogther. You can do one, the other, or both.
In my case, I'm cheap so I'm doing Big Knob + A16 Ultra.

Ok the mackie control universal would be exactly what i'm looking for, but it has no analog i/o and i don't know how well it would work with scope either. But maybe i should get the control universal along with something else like that patch thingy you were talking about to just open up my a16's i/o a little better, make it more accessible. Thanks for teh reply.

Did a quick search. Here's a thread that has some pointers on controllers...
