this is a great piece of musical orchestration. I really like the way you are changing the chords and the melodies on top of them.
The sound of the violin is acceptable, i think it's played to much as an electric piano piece. I suggest to play the violin with some more attack so that it complements the track more than it does now.
Tweaking every single note is the way to go for sure, playing with the sample starts to get rid of attacks on sustained bowing, amplitude modulation. Although ,you can imagine the TIME it would take!
Still sounds like mud to my ears...Which frequencies need to be attenuated is the answer I'm looking for really.
you mean for the shimmer on the violin? Or the sort of "stress" you hear where you can tell the violinist is pressing really hard? I think for the shimmer, you might try using a little exciter. For "stress", or more powerful sound, how about gently overdriving it? Just ideas of the top of my head.
BTW I hate MIDI programming strings unless I can play it live with a mod wheel like in Garritan personal orchestra.. If I wanted to change something I'd rather go back and replay it. I hate drawing graphs with the mouse. I never could understand the breed of MIDI people who get infatuated with orchestral programming... I mean, they were there long before the Giga days.. more like back in the SC-88 days.. I mean with Giga it's worth it because the results are believable.. with a SC-88? I was like, hey, no matter what curves you draw the result will always sound like a SC-88... Some day, we'll have a plug in where we can play a part, and it'll be perfect. No actually, we'll press a button, and out comes the next hit. yeah, that's cool. lol

I ran the violin part through Amplitube. Spent a lot of time finding the right amp-speaker balance but I could never quite get that condenser-mic sound from the samples. You know what I mean? That electric feel...
I did a complete orchestral reproduction of Fiddler on the Roof a few years back, on an SC-50! I'll email you a sample. See what you think.
Check your PM's instead

Fiddler on the roof? Great! I conduct this wonderful musical for half a year in our little theatre, and every time it has beautiful moments. I hope we'll play it many times.
