STM4896 channel compressor side chain input - no STM4896 ch

If you are using one STM4896 mixer, can you select one of the STM4896 channel's as the side chain input on one of the STM4896 mixer channel's compressors? I am sure I have done this in the past, but stopped doing it because of the issue with not being able to delete or change the side chain input once you have selected it.
Lately, when I try to select a side chain input, either:-
A) the STM4896 appears in the list of options but no connections are listed at all. In which case I get a message "Cannot make connections:pads STM4896.MIn and Sidechain Inputs.CL1 are incompatible and no appropriate converter is available" when selecing the STM4896 from the list . CL1 for when channel 1 is the selected side chain trigger , CL2 for channel 2 etc.
or
B)only have the option of selecting one of the AUXs, MonL, MonR, MixL, MixR, CtrL, CtrlR, StdL, StdR, or Bus1 to 8.
But never one of the actual STM4896 mixer channels are listed as a possible side chain input.
I have tried deleting devices (other software I/O, mixers, etc.) one by one in the project I am using and also tried starting from scratch with just one STM4896 but no joy - I cannot get any of the STM4896 mixer channels to appear as a side chain option in the mixer's channel compressors.
I haven't made any radical changes to my computer or Scope setup that I can think of.
Anyone else come across this before? Or am I just doing something obviously wrong? (no embarressed smilie available)

Hi Alfonso. I just spent 15 minutes typing a lengthy reply and lost the lot because this ******* forum thingy requested me to login and then then, when I did, I found I had lost all I had typed!! So, excuse me if I am a bit brief (for once!) The Directouts button only allows the Directouts to be displayed on the Routing Window so that you can then use any of the STM4896 channels to trigger the sidechain of a compressor that you load. I was wondering if it was possible to trigger any of the STM4896's internal channel compressors with any of the other STM4896 channels? I think the option of using the Directouts might be better though due to the bug I mentioned, the fact that this will give you more options in the way you connect various sidechain triggers and the fact that most of the additional compressors available are better than the STM4896's channel compressors. Thanks for your time on this one.

Yep I guess your right garyb. It's just a bit strange that the option to use any of the STM4896's channels as sidechain triggers for any of the STM4896's internal channel compressors is no longer available for me.

hmmm, yes, strange. mine allows it. something has become corrupt. maybe it's just that instance or preset? maybe it might take a full clean reinstall to fix it...
*edit* found your error. it happens when you(err, when i) try to change the setting. removing vinco and then reloading it seems to fix the problem for me. i found a similar behavior on the "external plugin" plugin used as an insert.

Yep Alfonso. It used to be in the sidechain menu of the internal compressor on my setup aswell - but not anymore. Can't think what I could have done to change things. The STM4896 appears in the sidechain menu but no actual connections appear in the submenus for it on my default project. My default project includes
1 x STM4896
1 x STM1632
1 x Scope MIDI A Source
1 x Scope(2)MIDI A Source
1 x Sequencer Midi Source 2
1 x Scope Analog Source
1 x ASIO 24 Bit Source
1 x Scope ADAT A Source
1 x Scope (2) ADAT A Source
1 x Sequencer MIDI Source 1
1 x Sequencer Midi Dest 1
1 x Scope MIDI A Dest
1 x Scope SP-DIF Dest
1 x Scope SP-DIF Opt Dest
1 x ASIO 2 Dest
1 x Scope (2) ADAT A Dest
I use two Scope Pro cards.
If I delete all the devices (other software I/O, mixers, etc.)and just load an STM4896 mixer, save the project and reload it - I then get the option of selecting one of the AUXs, MonL, MonR, MixL, MixR, CtrL, CtrlR, StdL, StdR, or Bus1 to 8. But never one of the actual STM4896 mixer channels are listed as a possible side chain input.

I don't think that wether you have the direct outputs showing on the STM4896 module or not has any effect on wether the STM4896 channels are available for selection in an STM4896 channel compressor's sidechain list. Shouldn't the STM4896's channels appear in the STM4896 channel compressor's list of sidechain options at all times as they can be hidden from view in the routing window but are always available. (My head hurts!
