Midi not working in Logic 5.51 windows
I don't use it that much these days - switched to Tracktion 2. However I found a few days ago that midi isn't working anymore and I don't know why. I have a merged midi connection joining the inputs from my midi keybard and phatboy but this was working fine last time I fired up Logic and I've tried a number of Scope configs but they all fail. Audio is working fine and I can play instruments using the matrix editor and the mini keyboard in the environment even but not using my midi keyboard and/or phatboy. When I look in the environment for ins/outs Creamware Scope midi is showing up but on the transport where it say's which ins/outs are active it says none and it's definately not recieving midi. Any ideas?
Only thing I've installed recently was a demo of Sonar 4 but I don't see how that could have changed things.

In C:WindowsWin.ini you'll find a Logic
section. Each line will be in the format:
<midi port>=<value>
if value is set to 0, the port is disabled. 1 and 7 are enabled. I suspect that one of the two values is equivalent to using directsound EMULATED ports under Cubase SX but I've not noticed any timing difference with Logic, unlike Cubase.

I assume you mean under "clicks and ports" - if so I not changed the default setup which has my Creamware Midi connected to the note input and input viewer, then to "recording & thru". This is how I have always had it and it always worked up till now. I have tried exchanging the record/thru object for a sequencer object and just making a direct connection between creamware midi and that but still no response. When I play notes nothing shows in the input view unless I am using the little virtual keys in the note input object.

I've narrowed down the problem a bit. I found out by accident that if I load Logic without having an asio driver in the project midi works and with PC EASI DX drivers I can even hear instruments play but then latency is too bad and I can't use my audio ins. I tried using PC EASI with an asio driver loaded into the project but even though this wasn't selected in the Logic drivers panel it still inhibited midi in from working. I've tried various asio setups to see if I can find one that works but none are at present - very frustrating. Clearly there's some sort of conflict between the asio driver and midi but only in Logic - in other apps there's no problem.
i have especially made sure that the midi routings are connected in the SFP Project:On 2005-09-11 14:45, garyb wrote:
without scope there can be no midi transfer. in your xtcproject.pro you must wire midi properly for it to go to your sequencer in xtc mode.
PS Midi source => Sequencer IN and so on...
i have Logic moaning at the startup about 'no midi drivers', and of course once Logic is loaded up there is no midi signal at all...
uhmm... sorry, what do you mean by 'xtcproject.pro' ? it must be a specific project? , knowingly i have the XTC mode enabeled in the sfp settings for my projects...(...) in your xtcproject.pro you must wire midi properly for it to go to your sequencer in xtc mode.
can you share your SFP project file?
the xtcproject.pro is located in sfp/app/xtcapp if i remember correctly. it can be edited in scope mode and it's the project that runs in xtc mode. enableing xtc mode(the checkbox) means that when scope is closed, the sequencer can load the xtcproject.pro to use the card.
normally, the xtc mode checkbox must be unchecked and the proper routings made in the active project. sequencer midi source and dest modules must be available and in the project BEFORE logic is opened. RTM.

i have edited the xtcproject and added there the PS midi source and SEQ. destination, connected.
now, Logic seems to find its midi ports. But i have no audio, i assume the xtcproject needs to have the same routing configuration with all of the audio devices (asio, mixer etc) as the main active project?

Still not getting this working (except when asio is disabled). Would it work if I tried say a USB midi interface - I don't know how Scope handles those, is it "seen" by the host as a seperate midi in from scope or what?
Also maybe I should try turning off hyperthreading as I hear that can cause problems??

yes, but no mixer....On 2005-09-12 12:19, zeezoozaa wrote:
