This is so far OT, but I was so surprised when I read it that I thought it worth sharing. Here it is:

Guess how many pigs were slaughtered & eaten in China last year ? Now think about this for a minute.... (scroll down for answer)

618 million !

Now if that's just pigs in China, what's the total number of animals bred & eaten by humans on Earth in a year ? Must be tens of billions ...

Not sure about the significance of all this, I like meat, but it just made me stop for a moment.

Well, one could argue, that unlike many people, pigs actually have a welldefined purpose in life...

Not a very pleasent way of thinking, but still...

You mean to get eaten ?

I went to an agricultural show a couple of years ago and sat down near a pen of pigs.... they had the most human-like blue eyes.

I still like ham sandwiches though.

They are supposed to be more clever or at least as clever as a dog.
My dad always wanted to have a petpig, but the laws in Denmark prohibit him from actually have one is his backyard. A shame really, could have been loads of fun.
We used to have chickens in the backyard when I was a child (and I didn't grow up in the country). Unfortunately they were all eaten by a fox one noght, except one, which eventually joined the family around the tv-set at night for the sake of company. It didn't like to be alone at night
