of course, that everyone is safe is the first priority. i hope everybodies ok. i trust that you are!
i MUST rant....
i really feel for those affected, but this stuff is SO bogus. why must we deal with each other like children? no, i am not talking about the bombers in particular, rather those who trained and funded them. i am reminded of the great and terrible OZ. the sad thing, is that real people die and suffer in these idealogical battles, that are meaningless in the top levels of society. nearly everyone is fighting and yet, the fighting can solve nothing, for the ideas on both sides are based on false suppositions, which allow both to claim morality for muder.
i for one refuse to believe that the "terrorism" is the bombs(alone), when the dictionary defines terrorism as 1. the use of terror, violence and intimidation to achieve an end(oh! like prisons and armed police and courts to achieve civility AND armies to achieve peace and order AND bombs to free yourself from terrorists). 2. fear and subjugation produced by this.(oh! like don't criticize the government in a time of war) 3. a system of government that uses terror to rule.(i should make no comment, but i'm slightly stupid. what government is not using force or the fear of for to rule? what government doesn't have armies? what government doesn't have/desire the bomb? what government does this best? trick question, 'cause if you find one without any of this, there's still likely to be the U.N., a government if there ever was one, above)
"terrorist groups", "freedom fighters" if you will, are just one of the statisically known and proven by-products of terrorism. they are planned upon and accounted for in insurance. on the highest levels they are depended upon.
there will likely be an automatic, conditioned negative response on some level to this rant, but i am only reading the dictionary and taking the words literally. this is what newspeak is all about. when i read the word "insurgent" in the dictionary (circa 1981)i read "rising in non belligerant revolt against a civil authority or a government i power." and as a noun, "one who revolts agsainst authority; especially a member of a political party who rebels against it's leadership". so an insurgent is freindly. he's a MEMBER of the party!(not a destroyer of it!) he is in disagreement, but he'll not get violent(non belligerent). why does the news state daily "armed insurgents...."?
what is REALLY going on? ALL of the break-downs and analysis is obviously bogus.(hey break down analysis! the first word is anal, maybe that's why the analysis is often crap!)

Okay from what I hear about 30 or 40 people were killed. In Washington DC between 200-300 people are murdered each and every year. Hey but we are expected to kill ourselves, however if a foreigner kills us it makes the world news. You are just as dead either way. It is all about fear or foreigners. The publicity is blown way out of proportion which is to be expected when there is interest and the media can attract more viewers and get more money.
Rant away my friend. There should be freedom of speech no matter what your opinion is. Certain people in here don't like it when you speak your mind and they revert to infantile name calling. Personally if I am attacked like that it will make me post 10 times more.On 2005-07-07 10:20, garyb wrote:

I'm saddened that this has happened in London - or anywhere else.
So, do we choose to stand by idly and allow such dramas continue play out in their own fashion since they don't directly affect us? Or, do we choose to become involved to the benefit of fellow humans?
Neither choice is a given. The first is fallacy because in this age, there is no isolation of such events and conflict. The second choice is apparently not acceptable because it involves discrimination - which, as we all know our politically-correct world won't stand for.
There is no black and white here. However, to do nothing is to surrender whatever is of value to you because there will always be someone there to take it away from you.

I'm anticipating a breakout of anti-muslim violence here in the UK.. I'm Hindu but to a drunken aggressive English person with a potato-based snack on his shoulder, that doesn't mean a thing.
It's this kind of reactionary paranoia which is so beloved of governments. You can literally make people do anything you want in this hysterical state.
It makes me very uneasy as a human being that the G8 can fund the destruction of a people and an ecosystem in the Congo, while turning around and saying that they are trying to help the world. The statement George Bush made today after the attacks made me sick... talking about helping world poverty and the environment at the G8 summit - utter bullshit I'm afraid (when are you going to sign Kyoto Mr.Bush?!). The crying shame is that the vast majority of the world believes hollow rhetoric such as this.
The reactionary attitude to sentiments such as this is that they are sympathetic to terrorism.. also utterly untrue. I simply believe that this bogeyman known as 'Al Qaeda' is funded by world banks whose aim is not only to enslave the 3rd world, but also us here in the cosy and safe 'developed' world. Actually, some 'cynics' would say this has already happened... how many of us could cope without all the sanitized trappings of modern plastic living? How many of us live in daily fear of losing our jobs, and therefore do anything we have to in order to sustain this system which beats us down and dehumanizes us?
The depressingly funny thing is that people who raise these kind of concerns are denounced as dope smoking paranoid weirdoes, communists, anti-semitists, nerds who need to get laid/drunk/stoned more, or just plain whacked out conspiracy theorists looking for the next entertaining doom-mongering scare in the absence of a decent episode of the x-files.
Meanwhile, let's see how our governments treat us. We have ridiculous taxes which do nothing for our communities, the majority of the economy is simply a sham for pooling wealth in the elite 0.001% of the population (have a look at the mechanics of pensions, insurance, bank loans, the stock market etc). But wait... it's okay.. we have *democracy*. Hmmm... last time I checked I didn't have much of a choice.. a choice between a right wing bastard and a slightly more right wing bastard (pardon my French).
And then just look at colonial and post-colonial history. Look at the spread of American/European business interests in the developing world. Look at the gaping chasm in wealth, and the inevitable corruption which ensues. The Live8 concert organizers have some nerve blaming corrupt African leaders for the state of Africa... these guys are simply puppets funded by and in the service of western business interests.
I'd personally be overjoyed if I was wrong about all this, but I have a very uneasy feeling about this stuff going on in our world. I just hope people can use their intelligence to figure out what is happening instead of following the herd.
We humans are worse than goldfish... does it really take a rocket scientist to learn the lessons of this century's events, let alone the constant repitition of this stuff throughout recorded history?

Terrorism. Bombs against innocent, unaware people walking by their way
I'm sure the 90% of human people consider it among the most despicable acts could be done.
And what for gain? The raise of the hate against extremist Muslim peolple?
Revenge? Revenge against people living his own pacefull life with just a minimum chance of influence on internal and foreign affairs?
It have no sense for me.
Now the investigations will be increased.
Like the past a lot of people will be controlled, a lot of seditious organizations will be dismantled... till the next. Cause weapons, explosives are not free, but neither controlled from the factory to the end user as people are.
Cause lot of people addicted to this controls results as corrupt people...
OK stop. Going toward paranoid ideas.
Sorry.

It is very difficult to live in the modern world without destroying it. I apologize that I drive a car but I am going to drive it. I don't know a lot about the G8 group but I think I trust them more than the anarchists. We are never going to prevent people from destroying the rainforests especially when ours were destroyed a long time ago which makes us seem hypocritical to stop them.
We are a world in transition from one based on superstition to a scientific understanding. Some people have to live by their religion and are not allowed to have sex outside of marriage, furthermore they see other people with a lot of money having a good time and it upsets them. Religion all over the world is about to go down the toilet and it infuriates some people.

Nobody claims? That's odd. Wouldn't a selfrespecting Extremist state his goal and demands? After his hard work to wire all those boms. Mm , who is to gain from all of this? Stocks were going down rapid. Isn't that good news for people with Putoptions ?? Whoops , now i'm ranting too...

Moral relativism and its twin moral equivalence leaves leftist thinking paralyzed to respond to the threat of Islamic Fascism, which intends to take over the world and wipe out any vestige of Judeo Christian and Secular Liberal civilization.....it advocates terrorism and genocide which is being well practiced in the Sudan....as the world does nothing. When suicide bombing reaches a nuclear level, maybe then the danger will be recognized. Meanwhile the spirit of Neville Chamberlain lives on.
We can only hope that cooler minds prevail before we are all blown up. Let's not forget the possitive things that have happened such as peace with Russia and China. I would love to see relations with Cuba. As I understand it Iran might become more moderate not too far in the future. We should work to eliminate poverty everywhere and a lot of the current problems would go away.
I've heard a lot of this mistification, this is the same propaganda that indicate islamic integralism threat as the justification for the return to a so called "Judaic-Christian" civilization, that is integralism as well.On 2005-07-07 12:59, moosethree wrote:

Cultural relativism is something that has nothing to do with the idea that everything is tolerated and that a society should accept any tribal ritual that involves some violence on the individuals or bullshit like this.
Cultural relativism is exactly the opposite, the opposite of integralism and absolutism. Integralism is a way of thinking that will tie social behaviours to a certain single view, ideology, religion. Cultural relativism implies that the social rules are defined by democratic practices, where people of different cultures, belief systems, political views, concur to define with the democratic mechanisms a "conventional" system of rules, that is not dictated by one only of the belief systems, but is independently built on partecipation of all the subjects.
For what we do know from history, both Judaism and Christianity have been monstruosly violent, integralistic and cruel, and expecially Christianity has the record for slaughtering, torturing and destroying the lives of millions of innocent people because of power and domination. Confusing it with Secular Liberalism, that has been conquered fighting bloody wars against various Churches is ridiculous, but sadly a diffused mistification.
Thinking to defend ourselves from integralism with another integralism is like trying to shut off a fire with fuel.
Cultural relativism should be the weapon, something to spread, both in western and muslim societies, because that's the only sincere and effective notion of freedom that can teach everyone to be confortable with differences.
Differences. Do you understand what does it mean? How do you want to cope with them? maybe eliminate them? And what's the difference with the Talibans?
