Hello to all!

I recently added a Silicon Image UATA133 Disk Controller and a Linksys 10/100 Ethernet card to my previously perfectly-working DAW.

Since I added these cards, my 2 Pulsars do not function. I get the following message:
"Hardware cannot be setup properly.
Installation Error: Pulsar2 SRAMtest failed.
Please check hardware for conflicts"

I had my 2 Pulsar2 cards on slots 2 & 4. I removed the 2 new cards and installed them one after the other. I found out that it was not a particular card to blame but mainly it was slot 1 which seemed to conflict mainly with slot 2.

As the Pulsar2 cards are quite big and the PCI to ATA card is big too (because of the cables), I must put them in an order that is reasonable (in terms of space) and functioning. But I dont want to spend 2 weeks trying all the possible combinations until I find accidentaly a working one.

I had a look at the motherboard's manual as far as IRQs and PCI Slots are concerned (p.20 in the manual). But I dont understand a lot..
It has an interrupt request table with the following information:
PCI Slot 1 shares F
PCI Slot 2 has G used
PCI Slot 3 has H used
PCI Slot 4 has E used
PCI Slot 5 has C used
Onboard USB 2.0 shares F (I have it disabled)
AGP has A used

What do these letters stand for? (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I)

How should I place the 4 cards so that I have no conflicts and are placed "logically" in the PC?

I would be very grateful if you could help me. Thanks

Thanks stardust for replying

After many (but really MANY) hours of installing and deinstalling cards, I ended with the following:
- the 2 pulsar2 cards on slots 2 & 4, assigned to IRQ5
- the network card on slot 1, assigned to IRQ 3
- the PCI ATA card on slot 5, assigned to IRQ10
- slot 3 empty

They seem to function well like that. I can load 15 Masterverbs in SFP and I get no PCI Overflows or any other error messages. If I take out the network and the PCI ATA cards, I can load 16 masterverbs and max out my DSP load (again with no PCI overflows).
...but I cant undersand why this happens :roll.. anyway..

I still would like to learn what these letters stand for: A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I. I dont think that have something to do with the available IRQs (3,4,5,7,9,10,11,12,14,15) because the letters are 9 and the available IRQs 10... Does anybody know?

@stardust, wish the mac-creamware combination looked like it should be Image

Tooth grinding I must confess I'm powerless

Whatever I say, the end is weak.
'OS9 is passé, but hey there's no registry in it', or anything reasonable.

Sorry rodos, it's OT
