Hello peoples

I'm a recent addition to the creamware family with my purchase of a Pulsar II card and loving it except for one PROBLEM...

I have installed Pulsar II card with Scope platform (recently upgraded to ver 4.0) and works great EXCEPT when running sx2 and using the ASIO Scope driver , I am getting lots of pops and clicks in my midi/vsti tracks. When I go back to my original ASIO driver (Creative EMU Asio) I do not get the same problem. (but of course lots more latency)

I should also mention that I have just installed sx2 as well but I am getting the same problem in SX1.

I tried lots of tweaks of my system last night, no changes. Even found some info about a setting for VSTi that can use the old settings that were used in SX and not the new setting in SX2 for instruments like Battery and Kontakt.

Things I am going to try tonight are that late last night I noticed that the IRQ for the pulsar is the same for my original soundcard and some other functions going to change this but I would have thought that if this was the problem the pulsar card would have more problems (elsewhere it works fine).

Any other ideas of things I could look at? Please, please.

I wanna get on with the fun of making music and not tweaking bloody computers all night because thats what I do all day at work!!

Any help appreciated.

Welcome to z

Getting the audio cards off the same irq is recommended.

Have you tried changing ulli latency settings in scope?

Try those while waiting for more useful answers from those who know more than me

hi
This always worked fine for me.
Try different ASIO drivers.
ASIO driver should fit cubase project settings
I guess ASIO1 16 will cracle if you record 24 bit,
... and so on

Just out of interest if you need boards to share irqs how do you do this - my Luna and Pulsar 2 boards seem to be on 21 and 17 and I'm wondering myself if this is causing problems (occasional crackles and a couple of blue screens) - how do I make them both use the same setting?

SOLVED!!! looks the irq sharing was the problem.

Just reinstalled the card into a different PCI slot and hence was given a different IRQ (this by itself ie. not shared) and everything is working fine.

Kymeia i think i read somewhere in my motherboard manual that certain PCI slots are 'shared' slots. how you get them to share the same IRQ i do not know.

Thanks to those who suggested ideas and i'll see you around here again soon.

Look at your motherboards manual,
there should be a pci-sharing table
eg.
in my case, asus p4pe it says:
pci 1 and 5 share irq, but with nothing else
pci 2 share irq with firewire
pci 3 share irq with usb2 and raid
pci 4 share with lan

so i use 1 and 5 for my 2 cards

Hi

I'm at the moment getting clicks and pops when I record in soundforge. I'm using a Luna 2 card. Preety much when I switch on the Scope it will pop once and a while. I have also tried changing the latency settings.

Does any one know how to solve this problem

cheers..

Quick fix you might want to try, start/set SFP with a "Below Normal" priority level, and optionally try to raise Soundforge's priority (you can set priority level in the Task Manager.) See if that helps.

This problem is back again!!!

any ideas on anything else I can look at?

OH BTW as I have been busy at work I tried about 2 weeks ago and had clicks. Last week my new monitors arrived and 2 nights ago NO clicks. Now the last 2 nights clicks are back. At least the pops and clicks sound good on the new monitors.....

Help please!!

sometimes some file becomes corrupt. there are literaly a million lines of code including the os, a very small problem or error could derail the whole train, making it look functional but....
if your hard and software environment are truly set up properly(there's really not a lot of teaking nessessary, but if set improperly, no workie), and a reinstall of your apps(no deinstall, just reinstall over the top) doesn't make it work right, then formatting and starting from scratch will save you months of headscratching.

normally, things run perfectly from the start. i install the os and software, do a very limited number of tweaks and go. the whole process from dead machine to fully functional takes no more than a day. if it takes more than that, there must be a problem with the install, irq conflict or bad hardware.

weak or failing power supplies(or extremely bad ac i.e. very low voltage or current) might also be the source of clicks and pops or other faulty behavior.....

Don't know if you ve been through this already:

Is your OS set to background services instead of programs.
yes
Do you use extreme latency settings: 1ms 96khz ?
no, 25ms 44.1khz
At which ULLI settings can you get rid of the pops and clicks ?
none, there for all
Any other ASIO drivers running in parallel ?
I would say no but not sure what you mean. I have other ASIO drivers installed in system but AFAIK they are not running.
Did you try to disable the other sound card in device manager ?
ahh no i will give this a try
Any IRQ shares ?
no

any more ideas.

I am starting to think maybe a reformat and start from scratch unless there are more ideas.

interesting that the pops an clicks also appear in z3ta+ when using the scope asio driver.

any more?

I was getting some pops, but it was a midi sync problem, between scope, cubase and my mixer, you have to set the master and slaves up right. This may not be your problem though, does it pop all the time? Even when your sequencer program is stopped?
