I,m used to working with VDAT on my old system, but on the new machine VDAT is causing problems: somtimes it crashes my whole system when I create tape ?????
somtimes it gives error message : your computer is to slow and it doesn't play or record at all.
while the old system is 2.2 ghz and the new is 3.0 ghz
any idea???

Yes, strange... any peaks in performance can interrupt playback, comparable to Sonar's stopping when it can't keep up feeding the file stream demands.
I get the 'computer is too slow' on predictable occasions when I do CPU or disk intensitive tasks in Cubase while playing, for example when making the statistics of an audio track.
I used to get the same when a drive had been stopped by power management, but recently VDAT seems to be patient enough for the drive to speed up. I used to work around that by running a task that would wake up the drive beforehand, like browsing or opening a txt on it. Then, during session, power management is switched off of course.
So AFAIK the 'Computer too slow' pop-up shows when VDAT cannot keep up feeding the audio stream. Try running lower bitdepth and/or less tracks, see if that fixes it. If you can't play 8 16bit tracks, something is definately et up or installed wrong.
Also, are you using VDAT in combination with VRC-S or VRC-128? I have sometimes problems with VRC-128, VRC-S seems to make much more stable VDAT.
Prettige feesten!
