The other day I wanted to use the Absynth and Reaktor at the same using different ASIO channels and I could not make it work (I did increase the ASIO channel number). What am I doing wrong? I assume it is possible to have two applications using the ASIO interface? I have only one device selected in the device manager, could this be the problem?
When one application is open, the other cannot open the ASIO interface.

Afaik, ASIO is never made to handle multiple clients. At least on SFP, it won't work. Any other ASIO driver that can do it?
Combinations of host and plugins will have to do, be it Rewire or VSTi type, to share ASIO IO.

I use the built in soundcard to monitor two apps at the same time.
Or I route the built in soundcard to a wave source module in SFP, which is less convenient as you have to change that back everytime if you run the computer without having SFP active

cheers.

Why don't you use a modular VST hosting environment like Plogue Bidule (www.plogue.com) - you can have as many softsynths open as your CPU can handle, and you can route MIDI and audio signals in a modular way (very similar to Scope).
