I'm using Spectrasonics Atmosphere Dream synth and can't get it to respond to MIDI input inside Samplitude. Is there a trick to MIDI routing into effects, or is there a bug with regards to VST/DirectX effects/synths on individual channels or tracks coming out of PulsarI?

I've reviewed the manual and everything looks like it's mapped correctly.

I get 'MIDI port already in use' warnings when attempting to get it to see the MIDI.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Greg

I use atmosphere and cubase sx no problems.

Does the preview button work ok?

Have you tried spectrasonics support they're normally very fast with their replies.

I've already got a reply back from Spectrasonics and they said to ask Magix (Samplitude) support. Magix support says to try Spectrasoncs. Still no reply from Creamware support.

I'm still trying some other tricks, but no luck yet.

Doh! I'm an idiot caught in a vicious cycle <hehe>.

And you're not having problems with other vst instruments in samplitude?

Pulsar never gives me midi connection problems.

Have you tried playing atmosphere using a simple midi sequence in samplitude??

I sometimes lose midi in cubase because I use the wrong channel or if I don't have the midi channel activated properly.

I normally use the piano keyboard in the part editor in order to troubleshoot the problem.

if the spectrasonics .dll is in the proper vst plugins folder, it should work fine. you will need to use the vst wrapper....

I have the dll in the proper folder, and am using the fxpansion wrapper.

I would try using a sequence in Samplitude, but Samplitude isn't even seeing the ports.

I have the correct Pulsar MIDI source module going to a sequencer midi dest module. (Unless this is incorrect).

I just think the MIDI driver on my Pulsar got corrupted or something similar.

Thanks for the contributions. Any other ideas?

I am running SFP 4.0.

I'm trying to figure out a way to refresh the MIDI driver now. No luck yet.

just reinstall right over the top. i highly doubt it's a driver problem if that's the only plugin that won't work. i see the drivers blamed so many times, and they are so rarely the problem.

I FINALLY got Atmosphere to work last night after re-picking the monitor settings and wrestling with the MIDI settings in both Scope and Samplitude. However, again tonight it wouldn't work.
I'm frustrated.
Also twice now my system froze on me. Totally locked up. I can almost recreate it, but I'm still not entirely sure if there's a loop going on with one of the settings, or what. Tired of farting around with it.

Is there a bug with ASIO and plugins? I don't know.

Any other thoughts are welcome.

There's no bug with asio and plugins but I can sympathise and tell you not to give up.

You got it working once and you're going to do it again!!

It's beginning to sound like configuration issues in samplitude or maybe with your pc, but I'm already getting out of my depth here as you need to post details of your setup.

Have you read these posts?

My system was rock-stable until I installed Atmosphere and/or started playing around more with VST plugins in search of some new sounds for a video project I'm working on.

I'm not doing any overclocking, or any other weirdness, and I have stuff turned off that doesn't need to be turned on (backside caching, USB, etc.).

I'm going to be pushing it a little today to see if I can actively break something <hehe>.

Thanks again,

Greg
