Make monophonic synths polyphonic....

Request a new device/modular module, and hope that some enterprising developer grants your wish!

I would love a device which could turn, say, 3 monophonic synths into a 3 note polyphonic synth. It would go between the midi source or sequencer source and the monophonic devices. To use it with 3 external mono synths it would need to send data out on three different midi channels to create the chord and it would need to be connected to the midi destination. Maybe it could just cycle through to the next available mono synth as you play each new note.

I know i would use this sort of device a lot Mainly with external monosynths.

Please, can someone make it?!?!

Have I explained it well enough?

Thanx

How old are synths.Don't they have MIDI thru,or can't you control them with same MIDI channel?

Guess then note priorities would be some problem... The priority regulation has to be put outside of the devices for this to work properly.

This can be achieved with the MIDI splitter device(found in midi folders). Read the manual.

I have a mono synth with midi and two older ones which have midi converters for their CV/gate so its all nice simple midi.

The device would be last note priority (my favorite) as I described it.

I dont think the keys plitter can do this, that device simply assigns keyboard ranges to its MIDI outputs. The unit I would like would play each mono synth one at a time with each successive key strike even if you repeatedly hit the same note and would play the 3 mono synths simultaneously (each at a different pitch) if you played a three note chord (anywhere on the keyboard).

I dont think it is possible to make this in the modular synth. (boo hoo)

Thanks for the replies, they get me thinking.

Anyway, a thing you could do is to send chords directly, triggered by a single note, using different zone transposers in modular goimg each one to a different midi channel.

Long ago I made a modular that produces different chords types in different zones of the keyboard (major, minor etc.) triggered by a single note.

You could try to add midi channel filter modules to the different transposed notes and have partially what you look for.

Thanks Alfonso, interesting possibilities.

At the moment I build up a chord with these mono synths using three seperate tracks/midi channels of my sequencer. It would be nice to play notes and chords without the planning though.

Thankyou
