Hello,

My apologies if I am asking stuff that has been aked before, but I have a few questions regarding XTC.

1) Does it really work? If so, I use both Cubase SX 2 and Logic 5.5.1 (PC)
2) If everything works, is there any advantage in using XTC in Logic or Cubase, or are you better off using Scope stuff in it's native environment?
3) Because XTC didn't work in version 3 I didn't install it when installing Scope 4. So, can I just install xtc seperately or do I have to reinstall Scope 4 again from scratch?
4) Assuming I have to reinstall Scope 4 from scratch again, will my first intall deinstall it self cleanly? I am terribly anal retentive so if it is a "messy" uninstall (for example leaving stuff behind in my registry, or all sorts of files left behind), it really annoys me!!! I like to have a smooth, efficient system with no unnecessary files lurking around.
5) Would I have to uninstall and reinstall music programs that I installed after installing Scope 4? Especially standalone programs that use ASIO Scope as the sound card source.

Apologies if my questions are basic and that I come across as anal retentive.

Greetings A.F.M.

Im by no means a guru, but I can answer some of your questions.

1)
Yes. It really works, but it takes some tweaking and tricks to get even non XTC devices to work in XTC mode. Opinions wether its worth it differ greatly. Personally I think it rocks to have everything in one environment. I use Cubase SX 2.0 and XTC works like a charm. Cant tell you anything about how it would work in Logic, but I assume it works there as well.
Once upon a time, a great XTC master graced this forum with his presence. He was called GonZoft by mortal man, and his holy scriptures of XTC/SX harmony and enlightenment was stored here: http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... 66&forum=3

The original idea on how to get non XTC devices to work in XTC mode can be read here:
http://www.adern.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=227
Its describes how to use modular patches in XTC mode, but its the same principle for all devices.

2)
As I said, opinions vary greatly, its mostly a thing of personal taste and how you wish to work. The percieved advantage of working in XTC mode (this divine higher dimension if you ask me) is the ease of use of having ALL of your stuff in ONE environment. The integration of all your Scope stuff into your sequencer. You loose out on the versatility of the Scope project window and its routing capabilities. I dont miss it, but many others do.

3-5)
I have no idea. These questions are more of an install technical nature. Maybe some real Scope guru knows this. I´ve noticed that not that many people read the XTC forum, so you might get better luck if you posted these questions on the problem solving forum if noone tackles them here.

Good luck!
An eye for an eye, and soon the whole world is blind.

yes, xtc mode works with those programs.

xtc mode worked in v3 as well, i used it with both apps w/ v3 for the entire time that v3 was out.

you can probably reinstall v4 right over the top of your previous install and have everything work properly. the real trick os setting up your xtcpeoject.pro located in sfp/app/xtcapp. there is a good thread about this in the tips and tricks.
