portamento/glissando problems
welcome styro
I think you're right with your observation, but for me it always (if memory serves me...) worked to just reload the misbehaving device, not the complete SFP.
Since I've never been able to make out a pattern and it didn't happen too often I simply ignored it.
If it happens on such a regular base there could be something pushing the midi ports, like timecode, active sensing and such stuff.
Do you have external gear connected ? A Roland keyboard ?
On the other hand I've reset my hardware DX7 at least a dozen times in the last couple of hours due to 'hick-ups' caused by quick program changes or other midi 'overruns'.
cheers, Tom

win xp athlon 2400 asus A7N8X box in standard-pc configuration. all midi devices are connected thru a unitor8 mkII interface.
this portamento/glissando-bug happens regulairy
after system running more then perhaps 12 hours and affects all loaded synths a the same time. i dont think that it is realated with the presence of some external midi devices, cause they are mainly swiched off. reloading all the synths helps, but is anoying after a while.
perhaps its time to reinstall the complete system (sigh....)

yes, I can confirm this. The longer the system is on, the more likely it is to happen - or better (in my case) it's almost inevitable that the loading of a new synth will freeze the system (after several hours of standby). On 2004-05-25 17:53, styro wrote:

Since I'm running a completely different system (Intel 815, Win98) than yours and I'm almost certain that my second installation behaves the same, I wouldn't expect a cure from a re-install.
I agree that it's annoying somehow, but as long as it's predictable and occurs once in 3-4 hours it doesn't hit my personal tolerance level.
The usability of the system in general weighs out one or two nags

cheers, Tom
