Wondering if there is any chance I could expand my Pulsar I to have more ADAT in/out?

Or is it just Pulsar II that can have an expansion board? Though I don't see that board on Creamware's site.

the pulsar 1 interfaces are soldered on, so that's that.
Newer cards have interchangeable i/o.

You'll probably need another card.

You need more ADAT i/o

options are

1 Scope home with ADAT expansion which was the Luna IIEX

2. Scope project which was Pulsar II

one of these boards connected to your Pulsar i with an stdm cable will give you 2 extra ADAT (16 ch)

So the answer is another board chained to pulsar I

I have found a used Pulsar II so I will probably go ahead and buy it. Can I expand this card with extra ADAT in/out. I think I have seen some kind of expension cards/daughterboard before on Creamware's site but can't find them now...

Both the 'classic' and 'plus' type of Pulsar II will have 2 adat in/2 adat out as well as other i/o (midi & audio). A Z-link Pulsar II will only have the Creamware Z-Link connector rather than adat.

Also beware that the Pulsar1's adat is only capable of going to 48khz, the Pulsar2 can do 96khz. Should you ever want to do 96khz then the Pulsar1 will not keep up.

I have a Pulsar2 & Pulsar1 and to be honest nothing is connected to the Pulsar1 anymore (not even the breakout cable that screws onto the back connector).

Could I exchange the daughterboard of the Pulsar II for one that has more ADAT in/out?

It seems that it could be exchanged if you're looking on the specs here:

there may still be one around....
the real problem is that you can only exchange plates between boards that were made about the same time. there have been some minor changes due to parts availability.

So if I understand you right Creamware doesn't manufacture these cards anymore but I could get one used if lucky? Have to be very careful in that case and see that the I/O card really fits the Pulsar.

Just wanted to add that I ended up with a used Pulsar II for a good price. Seemed like the best solution...
