my pc is doing my head in, i have a producers nightmare!!!

everytime im full into a project, the pc catches on abit of audio, chucks out at me a horrible digital glitchy sound and reboots itself.

i cannot work out whats causing the problem, it mostly seems to happen when ive got an application already using the asio drivers, and then i launch another editor using the windows drivers, then it usually goes apeshit.

please please write back if you are experiencing similar symptoms, together we can beat this!!!

frustrated!!!!

If it says ACPI, it is.....you must have installed Windows in the normal way (ie not pressing F5 at the Raid/F6 prompt).
Personally, I've not achieved 100%glitch-free running in ACPI mode, & Wavelab would not behave at all due to problems with Wave drivers. Standard PC mode is a completely different kettle of fish on mine....smooth as you like, even when loaded to the max.
You can switch to Standard mode without reinstalling OS, but some people report problems doing this.
Safest bet is to do a new install....you can just have a 2nd version on another disk/partition if you want to play safe/compare the two.

http://www.pcaudiolabs.com/setuptips.asp

there's a section on how to make the switch....basically by updating driver in the properties for ACPI Computer (device mngr)......BUT, it's not guaranteed to work 100%.
Reformatting might not be strictly necessary, but a fresh install is best...remember you can easily have it as ANOTHER installation, alongside your old one if you're worried, but on another HD/partition.
