I will not get to it today, but hopefully tomorrow. I will cut away all the unneeded stuff. This will make the installer unusable. So all in all it will be a manual upgrade with a - hopefully - usefull walk thru.
I just think this is too much waste of 56k peoples lines. So little has changed, and still it is 1/4GB all in all (with MOD3 and the manual).
So if you can wait a few days, and you are familiar with using a basic file browser - and if you are on a pay per minute 56k line, it may be worth wile to wait a few days.
Version 4 ultra light download
Hmm, I may do it another way and make a guide for wich files to add where and wich files to delete where (if any). This will transfer a 3.1c installation folder to a 4 installation folder. So you will actually be able to use it as a fresh install.
Just give me some time - and ofcoarse I can not guarante the result, but I think it should be possible.

who guarantees that the file mod dates are correct ?
you'd have to run an identity of content test over all files to be shure.
I've recently downloaded updates to Mod3, Vectron and Transient and have no idea at all what has changed
Something may be under the hood, even though CWA admitted no big changes on their site.
just to save you from the work, in case...
cheers, Tom
ps: otherwise I like the idea - can't stand installers and assistants

I don't know how the PC installer work and look like but the Mac one is just a redistributor of files and folders after unstuffing/unzipping the archive. So in the archive there are mostly files with a PC logo (it is meant to show it's for PCs) and they have mod dates from 2002 and some white card logoed files which have mod dates from 2004 (but with creation dates from 1970
Though there is no guarantee both kinds of files were created/modified in the time shown I belive they were - all the new files like the scope installer, gui files etc are dated from March 2004, like those other)

Sam, that is an individual setting on your machine. Foreign files don't have a resource part for the 'meaningful' Mac icons based on type and creator information. On 2004-04-23 05:30, samplaire wrote:

Btw I also got that MidiMerger you posted. Obviously it was in one of the software updates for Vectron (the file is 3 times the size of the final device), TransientDesigner or Mod3

cheers, Tom

Hmmm. Didn't know about it. Anyway it's default.
For sure I will exchange it with a red heart
All I wanted to say the files from 2002 were all with that PC logo (it's written with the IBM font, BTW) and those from 2004 were just blank sheet labeled)
Yes, foreign files have this PC icon unless they are associated with a Mac app like .wav which copied from a PC gets automaticaly the Quicktime logo (of course if you have it set to be the default wav player)

Well, I did it this night at 2 o'clock. I took out all the files, that people already have in the same versions in their 3.1c download.
I also took out the ~46MB oxe-files for the optional plug-ins.
Then I zipped it.
Now it is less than 6MB - without modulars and manual.
The modulars are (as far as I could see) the same as in 3.1c.
The manual is close to the same too. Only few pages changed.
So if anybody wants to give it a try (and already have the 3.1c in an uninstalled version (and you DO NOT delete your downloads after you install them, I hope)), then send me a PM, and I will hook you up with the slim version. All you have to do is to take a copy of the uninstalled 3.1c and add/overwrite with the files I have found.
Actually, it would not surprice me at all, if you can just add the files to a workig 3.1c installation. But I do recommend, that you keep a working 3.1c as back-up, if things should f up.
No guarantees gived what-so-ever, but a much lighter download. The full V4 with acrobat reader, manual and Mod2+3 is close to 1/4GB.
