Sorry some angryness but I feel tired dealing with this stupid box and its editor.
I did no exaustive search about it but I'd believed that "pocket dial" would be a good add to my gear regarding what it was supposed to give, but I can't get this thing working.
First it was sending only through midi chn 1 controllers 0 to 15 or same controller in each of 16 midi chn. Not great to use with SFP. After some uncertain essays (the manual not clear too) it got behaving with "jumps" whose were not supposed to happen.
And now it just stop functioning.
What did I do wrong or what must I do to get it right?
I know I get no much knowledge about midi stuff but this shall be not too hard to get usable, or is it?
I also get today a peavey pc16000 and it is working (at least my basic level), tho I feel many dudes about all its functions.
If someone can help I will thank very much.
ps: I really have many doubts/lacks about midi control and also regarding what's possible to get and to send from SFP devices and I'm not even thinking about xtc, yet...
some help using "doepfer pocket dial" with SFP (PC1600 too)
There's a lot of us using pc1600(x).
Check out my homepage or the Presets & Tools forums, I made more presets for CW devices than the Pc1600(x) can handle.
Also, check out defectiverecords for the unofficial homepage of that machine.
If you have a Pc1600 without the x: the x version allows you to save Scenes in addition, screenshots of fader positions. The plain pc1600 does not have that option. Far most presets are interchangeable, the pc1600 just doesn't recognise the Scenes...
There's 2 programs I know of that allow you to edit the remote controller from the pc, the one by Pete Kvitek I like best. It deals with sysex files rather than the proprietary format of the other program. sysex can be recorded in and sent from a midi sequencer, so it's well interchangeable.
Give us a ring when you need more specific info on the pc1600(x)...
Have fun!!

Thanks Atomic for fast reply and thanks also for all your kindness providing your good work at your homepage and defective, whose I have known today while searching for my PC 1600 (without x) but I haven't got still the time to get into this device and about sysex and "scenes" I must learn something more before I begin to ask for help
Now, about Pock Dial, don't laugh on me, but the main trouble was the 5 pin din someone sold me as a midi cable, but it doesn't work like one
Anyway this thing has some other trouble and it seems its about the software editor and its send of configuration, first of all the midi channel routing and presets assigned.
That's enough for today...
Sorry anything and thanks fellows

just in case (it may also be related to the bad cable) you have returned the midi out pads of the (controlled) SFP devices to the Dial box ?On 2004-03-25 19:38, zezappa wrote:

Afaik the box must be set to a certain mode to process the updated device settings.
Then it's supposed to operate jump-less.
good luck, Tom
Thanks for help Astro, with real midi cables I get these things working now.
Pocket dial doesn't jump anymore though I just can get it working thru midi channel 1 (the default master channel).
The presets doesn't concern with those shown in pocketC editor but I could get one, at least, with the 4 different banks adressing 16 CC# each, 0-15, 16-31, ...and so on, so I think I'll find possible turnarounds to get working that way, and it's sure much better than walking on gui's with the mouse.
bit happier today, cheers
ps: thinking about advanced (for me) features with pc1600, as sysex and scenes and the use for buttons too, they seem a bit complicated for me now so I must remember that slow steps learning curve
thanks again,
Zé
